Joseph, Kelly, Spelman to represent Ohio Northern, team Stars & Stripes at 2012 Tazon de Estrellas in Guadalajara, Mexico

Three Ohio Northern seniors will represent their school and Team Stars & Stripes in the fourth annual Tazon deEstrellas all-star football bowl game on Dec. 17 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Offensive guard Tyler Joseph, defensive tackle Cody Kelly and safety Cory Spelman were all selected to play in the game, which pits a team of NCAA Division III All-Stars against a team of Mexican collegiate all-stars.

This year's game will be played at 1 pm EST (Noon CST) at La Fortaleza Azul (The Blue Fortress) in Guadalajara.

Nancy Armour winner of this week's Icon football contest

Nancy Armour is the winner of Week 4 of The Icon Football Contest. Nancy, Chris Conley and Jim Dillman each correctly picked 12 games this week. Chris was eliminated in tie-breaker 1 (picked Ohio State to win by 8 or more). Nancy and Jim picked the same tie-breakers. Since The Icon received Nancy's picks first she is declared the winner.

Other contestants:
11 correct - Dave Bracy, Duane Bollenbacher, John Clevidence, Kyle Gratz and Todd Fleharty.
10 correct - Brandon Huber, Mike Burris and Tater Hooker.

Ada plays Bingo on Thursdays in December

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada. Doors open at 5:30; Bingo begins at 6:55. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages.

Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club and Ada Music Boosters.

Dates are Dec. 6, Dec. 13, Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.

Red Cross blood drive scheduled

An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Ohio Northern University, 401 W. College St., Ada.

Junior Branden Rushton named OAC men's basketball Player of the Week

Ohio Northern junior guard Branden Rushton was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 19-25.

Rushton averaged 21.3 points per game in three games last week.

He scored 24 points in victories over Alma (Mich.) and Finlandia (Mich.) to lead the Polar Bears (4-1 overall) to the Alma Thanksgiving Classic title and scored 15 in a 69-64 loss to Defiance.

Rushton was named to the Alma All-Tournament Team. This season, Rushton leads the team in scoring at 18.4 ppg.

Ohio Northern will return to action Wednesday at 7:30 pm at home against No. 13-ranked Wooster at the ONU Sports Center.

Community dinner at St. Mark Lutheran on Nov. 28

St. Mark Lutheran Church will hold a community dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 28. This week's menu is spaghetti. We plan to have this dinner the last Wednesday of each month. All are welcome.
