ONU receives NACDS Foundation grant to conduct health fairs

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy was awarded a grant from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation in conjunction with the Million Hearts initiative to conduct area health fairs in March as part of the “Heart to Heart Community Health Fairs” campaign.

The grant, in the amount of $1,000, provided funding for ONU pharmacy students to carry out health fairs in Hardin and Allen counties. Health Fairs took place at the ReStore in Ada, Ohio, on March 16 and at Rays Market on South Cable Road in Lima, Ohio, on March 23.

Nothing stops Ada High's Winterguard team - named gold medal SRA state champs

The Ada High School Winterguard traveled to Akron, for the Springfield Northwest Classic Competition an OIPA sanctioned event. 

The Ada Winterguard performs a four-minute flag and rifle routine. The routine is choreographed by Jonathan Lischak, who serves as advisor and director of the Ada Winterguard with co-director Amy Webb. 

Ada HS competed in the Scholastic Regional A (SRA) category at their last competition on Sunday, March 17. The guard again scored their highest score in their history at the SRA level with an 89.33  They outscored their closest opponent by 15 points to take first place out of 11 teams. 

Ada summer swim team sign-ups April 11 and April 18

Sign-ups for the Ada summer swim team will be held Thursday, April 11, and Thursday, April 18, from 6:30 to 8 pm. at the Ada Visiting Nurses, 4392 State Route 235 in Ada.

Swimmers from ages 5 to 18 are invited. The cost is $50/child, with a $5 credit for each additional family member. This cost includes one ad per family in the championship heat
sheet. A $10 late fee will be assessed for anyone registering after May 27.

Morning practices are held Monday through Friday at the Ada pool beginning as soon as school is out, hopefully May 28. 

The first meet will be June 10 and Swim Championships this year are July 12 and 13 at
Kenton.

Hardin County Insight program March 28 in Kenton

The first Hardin County Insight of the year is Thursday, March 28, at the Kenton Elks at 7:30 a.m. with opportunities to network and enjoy a continental breakfast.  The program begins at 8 a.m. and features different speakers at each meeting. “County Insight” also includes brief presentations from the Alliance staff.

Guest speakers for county Insight will be Lisa Frantz, Center Director, Kenton Community Health Center, and Jacqualine Fitzgerald, leading the way with a grass roots project for Murray Park splash pad.

4.2 inches of snow fell on March 25

ONU "snow" ball game postponed

The Ohio Northern baseball team's game on Wednesday at Wander Field against Albion (Mich.) has been postponed due to heavy snow. No make up date has been announced.

The Polar Bears are next scheduled to play on Friday, when they open open up OAC play at home with a double header against No. 4 Marietta at 1 p.m., weather permitting.
