Frog leg dinner at Ada VFW Saturday night

The Ada VFW Post 9381 will hold a frog legs dinner from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at the post located at 2147 State Route 235, Ada. Tickets are $12 and are available at the door. Karaoke will follow the dinner from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Ada police trying to identify man with stolen credit card

Mike Harnishfeger, Ada Police Chief, asks the Ada public for assistance in seeking the identity of a man who was with two women while a stolen credit card was used at several Ada and Lima businesses.

According to the police chief, On Aug. 23 a woman entered the Rich Station in Lima at 12:38 p.m. and used a stolen card to make a purchase. Then, at 1:41 p.m. also on Aug. 23, the same woman entered Menards in Lima with a black man in a white shirt, accompanied by an "overweight" woman in a pink shirt. They used the same card to make a large purchase there, according to Harnishfeger.

The trio also stopped in the Foot Locker in Lima to make a purchase.

Robert Hill, Ada Midget Football, Community Health Professionals, golf cart contest winners

Robert Hill was the winner of the best overall decorated golf cart in this year's Ada Area Chamber of Commerce's Harvest and Herb Festival parade. A golf cart contest was part of the parade. Hill won $50 for his prize.

Two other prizes were awarded. Each winner received $25. The Most Amusing cart prize went to the Ada Midget Football team. The Best Theme cart prize went to Community Health Professionals.

Relay for Life 5K Glow Run rescheduled for Oct. 4

The Ohio Northern University’s Colleges Against Cancer 5K Glow Run originally planned for Sept. 20 has been rescheduled. The new event date is Friday, Oct. 4. The event was postponed due to the weather on Sept. 20.

The run will start at 8 p.m. at the Green Monster, which is the track surrounding the perimeter of the campus. The race will begin by the mud volleyball courts, east of the football field.

Registration is $15 and includes a T-shirt and glow sticks. The first 15 participants to register will receive extra glow gear. 

Funeral service Friday in the ONU chapel for Austin Weber

Austin James Weber, 19 of Ada, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 5:35 p.m. at Akron General Hospital as a result of a longboarding accident.

He was born on June 20, 1994, in Lima, Ohio to Carl J. and Mary Lou (Illig) Weber who survive in Ada.

Austin was a sophomore at the University of Akron. He was a 2012 graduate of Ada High School and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada. He was an organ donor.

Also surviving are: two sisters, Kelsey Weber of Newport, Calif., and Holly Weber of Centerville, and a brother, Alex Weber of Ada; maternal grandmother, Lucille Illig of Landeck; paternal grandfather, Robert Weber of Delphos.

Music Boosters selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts - order yours now

Ada Music Boosters are selling boxes of a dozen Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts now through Oct. 1, according to Cliff Maier, president of the boosters.

Each box of a dozen doughnuts is $6 and will be delivered fresh during the Ada Homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 4 (admission to the game is not required for pickup).
