Heath Jackson and BGSU Falcons come up short in Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

Heath Jackson, Ada High School graduate and BGSU red-shirt junior wide receiver, started the Falcon fourth quarter drive with a seven-yard pass completion to Ronnie Moore to the BG 32 yard line.

The 75-yard drive took 9 plays and consumed 4:49 on the clock but resulted in the Falcons tying the score at 27 with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. Jackson caught two key first down passes from Quarterback Matt Johnson for 15 and 21 yards.

But Pittsburgh took the ball at their own 28 yard line and moved it to the BGSU 21 yard line.

Ada Kiwanis members learn about Gliding Stars

President Heather Cox called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday January 14th in McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress

Cindy Bregel, Gliding Stars, Findlay, was welcomed as a guest.

The membership anniversaries of members Claudia Crawford (January 6, 1998), Sandy Neely (January 8, 2006) and Scott Allison (January 16, 2007) were noted.

Lincoln Highway Assn. meets Jan. 21 at El Campo

The El Campo Mexican Restaurant, 204 N. Main St., Ada, will host this month’s Lincoln Highway Association Western Ohio Chapter meeting. The meeting is at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21.

After attendees order dinner individually from the menu, Raymond Schuck will present a program at 7 p.m., regarding early contact and conflict between colonists and Indians in North America, and how this lead to scouting for and eventually opening roads to the interior. 

Schuck is an Assistant Professor of History at Ohio Northern University and Director of the Museum Studies Program. He retired in 2000 as the Director of the Allen County Museum in Lima.  The public is invited.

Ada HS sophomores visit Apollo on Jan. 31

Approximately 675 sophomores in Apollo Career Center¹s 11-member district, including Ada HS sophomores, will visit Apollo during 411Blast, Friday, Jan. 31. Parents of sophomore students interested in attending Apollo for the 2014-15 school year are also invited to attend.

Ada students will attend sessions held at noon to 12:58. and 1:02 to 2 p.m. 

This day is designed to expose students to career possibilities that they may not know about. Students choose two programs of interest and then spend one-half day visiting those labs, meeting the instructors and participating in fun, interactive demos and activities.

ONU presents ‘An Evening With the Lacks Family’ Jan. 21

Ohio Northern University presents “An Evening With the Lacks Family” in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public, this event is sponsored by ONU’s Committee on the Arts and Special Events, Freed Center for the Performing Arts, and Office of Multicultural Development.

ONU to host eighth annual Polar Bear Invitational Mock Trial Tournament

 

Ohio Northern University’s mock trial program will host the eighth annual Polar Bear Invitational Mock Trial Tournament from Jan. 18-19. The competition will take place in ONU’s Pettit College of Law, Hill Building and Dukes Memorial. More than 200 students from 18 colleges and universities representing five states will participate in the tournament.
