ServeOhio supports UW partnership with New Hope Homeless Shelter

Kenton __The United Way of Hardin County is one of twenty-five agencies awarded funding through ServeOhio. The United Way and area volunteers are working in partnership with the New Hope Homeless Shelter to create a family area. Two rooms are being redecorated and furnished to serve as a family friendly space for a parent and any children who may find themselves in need of shelter. 

ServeOhio Day exists to encourage and promote hands-on volunteer engagement while school is out for the summer. The grants will fund service projects in 20 Ohio cities led by nearly 1,400 volunteers.

NOVFA Convention in Ada, June 14-15

Time out for the 150th anniversary celebration for the Northwest Ohio Volunteer Firefighters Association. On June 14 and 15 the Ada-Liberty Fire Dept is hosting the annual NOVFA convention with business meetings, entertainment, a raffle with a $10,000 grand prize and much more. A Change Is Gonna Come: Vaccines update

In 1964, Sam Cooke wrote the powerful soul ballad A Change Is Gonna Come.  Rolling Stone magazine listed this song at number 3 of their top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.  

Some significant changes are coming for vaccines including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), flu and COVID-19. 

On May 3, 2023, the FDA approved the GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) RSV vaccine with the brand name of Arexvy.  The vaccine was approved for those 60 years of age and up to prevent RSV lower lung infection.  The GSK vaccine is a recombinant subunit of prefusion RSV F glycoprotein antigen (RSVPreF3) with an adjuvant to enhance vaccine response.
