Tree in park honors Dr. Mark Shull

Ada chamber's calendar looking busy

Lots of August and September events are are on the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce calendar, according to Deb Curlis, chamber president. Here's the schedule:

August

Kiwanis Club will host F&M tractor pull

Ada Kiwanis Club members are getting ready for several late-summer events.

The club will manage the pedal tractor pull at the annual Farmers and Merchants Picnic on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The club will have a booth at the Harvest and Herb Festival on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The installation of club officers is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22. 

Final summer Paint Inn at the Inn at ONU on Aug. 4

Registrations are being accepted for the final of three Paint Inn at The Inn at ONU, according to Marilyn Reed, instructor.

The program is at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4. The painting project will be a sandy beach with saying written in the sand.

"The classes make you feel like you are an artist. It includes easels, canvases and supplies. There is a wonderful buffet are set up with wine and other drinks available," she added.

Next Ada VBS is First United Methodist-Sugar Grove

First United Methodist Church and Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will hold their summer Vacation Bible School from Sunday, Aug. 2, to Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the First UMC, Ada.

This year's VBS theme centers on devouring The Fruits of the Spirit. Those include patience, faithfulness, self-control, kindness, joy, gentleness, love, goodness and peace.

VBS is open to youth ages 3 to sixth grade. To register your child email to: [email protected], or call the church at 419-634-4626 between 9 a.m. and noon Mondays through Fridays.

2015 fall sports practices begin Aug. 1

The official start of fall sports practices is Saturday for member schools of the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Aug. 1 is the annual start date for all OHSAA sanctioned fall sports, which include girls tennis, girls and boys golf, girls and boys cross country, field hockey, boys and girls soccer, volleyball and football.

Football Notes and Playoff Updates
Of the OHSAA’s 822 member schools, 717 sponsor football teams. Schools are reminded of the five-day acclimatization period prior to any contact drills. Only helmets are permitted on the first and second days of practice.
