Ada-made Super Bowl ball

Dan Reigle, Wilson plant manager, holds a 2016 Super Bowl football. He said that 54 balls were sent to both teams in this year's game. Balls were created Sunday and Monday evenings. Four possible team combinations were ready at Wilson's prior to last Sunday's games. This year is the 50th annual Super Bowl. The game between Carolina and Denver is played Sunday, Feb. 7, at Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif.

Mike Hood talks to Kiwanis Club about human trafficking along I-75

Mike Hood told Ada Kiwanis members about the problems with human trafficking problem along I-75 and in Allen County. 

He said that not only does this problem include trafficking in the sex industry, but also trafficking in labor intensive industries. He noted that In Lima the police reported that they currently working on 1,000 cases. Lima is an origin city for trafficking victims. 

As of August 2015, about 1,900 children have been recovered by the Lima police, the youngest about 9 years old. People are also trafficked for the harvesting of organs. 

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is working on this problem with the Ohio Human Trafficking Commission, said Hood.

Feb. 2 lunch and learn focus on benefits of saving during tax season

A lunch and learn focuing on the benefits of saving during tax time is planned on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Hardin County Extension SPARK Lab, according to Jami Dellifield of the extension office.

Amanda Woods, Healthy Finances Program Specialist, will make the presentation, which takes place from either 11:45 a.m.—12:15 p.m. or 12:30-1 p.m.

Participants should bring their own lunch. The program is at the Hardin County OSU Extension SPARK Lab, 1021 W. Lima St., Kenton,

Hey, gramps, let's go grillin' with your grandkids

“Grillin’ with My Grandchild,” a new program by Ohio State University Extension and Hardin County Extension, according to Jami Dellifield of the Hardin County OSU Extension Office.

It involves Hardin County grandfathers and their grandchildren grilling dinners together, creating an electronic memory book, and having a great time.  

The two-session program series will be held on consecutive Tuesday evenings, Feb. 23 and March 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  at the SPARK Lab, Hardin County OSU Extension Office, 1021 W. Lima St., Kenton.
