Ada Music Boosters want to help you do your dishes and laundry

Would you like to save money on laundry detergent and fabric softener?

The Ada Music Booster detergent sale is designed to help you save money on things you normally buy. It is underway now.

The detergent sale features several varieties of detergents and fabric softeners, including those formulated for high efficiency washing machines. 

All buckets of detergent and fabric softener come in a 5-gallon bucket marked with the type of product, along with a pump for easy dispensing. 

These are high-quality private label products that are not affiliated with big name brands.  Each bucket sells for $45, which comes to just 7 cents per ounce. 

Norma Jean Fry was retired from Upper Scioto Valley schools

 Norma Jean Fry, 84, died on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 3:20 p.m. at Heritage Legacy, Findlay.  

She was born on Nov. 13, 1931 in Kenton, Ohio, to Harry and Leona (Bailey) Hogue and they preceded her in death.  On April 15, 1949, she married Ray E. Fry and he died on March 28, 1983.
   
Norma Jean was a homemaker. She retired from Upper Scioto Valley Schools as a custodian and cafeteria worker and teacher’s aide. She also worked at Richland Manor Nursing Home as a nurse’'s aide. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, quilting, and cooking for her family.  She served for many years on the McGuffey Village Council. She loved to bowl and was on a bowling team for several years.

Ada track and field team sponsoring 5K April 24

The Ada High School track and field team will hold a 5K run and walk Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. at Ada War Memorial Park. Prizes will be awarded to the top three boys and girls. 

The registration form may be downloaded from the link at the end of this article. Early registration is $25; t-shirts available to those who pre-register. Race day registration is $30; no t-shirts will be available on race day.

Mail completed form and fee to Tyler Craig, head coach 725 W. North Ave., Ada, OH 45810. Make checks available to Ada Athletic Boosters. All proceeds benefit the Ada track and field team.

 

Here's Ada HS winter sport NWC scholar athletes

Several Ada High School winter athletes were named Northwest Conference scholar athletes recently.

Scholar athletes are determined as follows:

• Must be a letter winner in the sport.

• Gold level: 3.5 or higher GPA during season of the sport.

• Silver level:  3.0 to 3.49 GPA during the season of the sport.

Basketball cheerleaders:

Gold - Rielyn Castle, Ashley Breidenbach, Lyric Jones, Anabel Alexander

Silver – Emma Ferguson

Boys’ basketball:

Gold: Brayden Sautter, Blake Willeke, Tommy Chen, Jackson Secor, Mason Klingler

Silver: Seth Evans

University to recognize academic achievement at Honors Day

Ohio Northern University celebrates its annual Honors Day program on Saturday, April 23, from 8:15 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

This year’s Honors Day continues the rich tradition of ONU’s colleges and departments recognizing students and faculty members for scholarly achievement and service to the University community. More than 40 undergraduate academic departments and honor societies will present awards and induct new members.

In a prelude to commencement, an Honors Day Convocation, which includes ceremonial elements such as an academic procession, inspirational messages and celebratory music, begins at 11 a.m. in the University’s Sports Center.

On April 6 118 ONU students from 43 campus organizations came together to write more than 3,000 thank-you notes to this year’s Founder’s Day Challenge  donors.

Ohio Northern University’s Founder’s Day Challenge is a virtual day of giving that encourages university alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and friends to come together to support the university.

The challenge is for 500 donors to give to ONU on Founder's Day. To make things more interesting, a group of challenge leaders have given $25,000 to ONU in support of the Founder's Day Challenge.
