Ada Gators fall short at Findlay

FINDLAY __ The Ada Gators summer swim team competed at Findlay on a warm Monday evening, June 24, roughly midway through the 2024 West Ohio Aquatic League calendar.

The team lost a very close boys dual meet. The Findlay Frogs nipped the Gator boys by the narrowest of margins, 225-224. The Findlay females beat the Gator girls, 351-146.

The Frogs won the combined boys/girls team meet, 576-370.

The Gator boys fell to 1-4 with the loss, while the Ada girls are 0-5 in dual meets.

Gator brothers Luke Harriger (boys 8-and-under) and Landry Harriger (boys 11-12) each touched first in four races.

Ada boys Kaden Clum and Jacob Szippl both won three events in the boys 15 & over age group.

Adaite Lydia Demascio (girls 15 and over) also captured first in three races.

Mandy Joy Garlow worked in food service

Mandy Joy Garlow, age 44, of Ada, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.  

Ada Police are investigating Rite Aid prescription medication theft

The Ada Police Department is in the process of investigating a robbery that took place at Rite Aid,  610 S. Main St. Ada, OH.  

On June 24, 2024 at 8:54 p.m. Ada officers were dispatched to Rite Aid in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. The suspects were described as three black males wearing “Covid-19” style masks in all black clothing. No weapons were presented or seen. There were no reported injuries.  

Last week to register for Ada youth fall soccer

Ada youth soccer organizers are reminding families that this is the last week for soccer registration before late fees start. The last day to register is June 30.

Chronic Wasting Disease in Deer Herd workshop, August 8

The Ohio State University Extension and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife are hosting free evening workshops about chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Ohio’s wild deer herd. 

Each workshop will cover the following topics: 

  • What is Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)?; 
  • Navigating Disease Surveillance Area Regulations; 
  • Carcass Handling Restrictions & Best Management Practices; 
  • Where and How to Test my Deer for CWD?; and 
  • How does CWD impact Deer Management?
