AHS swimmers open at Napoleon Invite

UPDATED with girls team scores and interview with new Ada coach Ashley Robey.

NAPOLEON--The Ada swim team dove into its season Saturday with a solid performance at the Napoleon Wildcat Invitational.

“For being our first meet of the season, I feel we did very well,” said new Ada swim coach Ashley Robey. “Especially being a swimmer short, which resulted in us only having one girls relay team for the relay events instead of two.”

Sophomore Lily Baumgartner won the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle events to pace the Lady Bulldogs.

AHS grappler Bulerin 3rd at Clyde girls invite

CLYDE – Ada High School freshman wrestler Marley Bulerin finished a strong third in her weight class at the Clyde Invitational girls tournament on Sunday, December 11.

Bulerin was seeded seventh among 20 wrestlers in the 125 lbs. bracket. 

She finished the day with a 4-1 record and three pins.

She won her first round match by pin in just 40 seconds over sophomore Elizabeth Terry of Mogadore.

Bulerin then won her second round bout via pin in just 28 seconds over sophomore Angelina Myers of Marion Harding.

In the quarterfinals, Bulerin pinned Elyria senior Alexia Satterfield in 45 seconds.

Bulldog boys fall at Perry

The Bulldogs host Bluffton on Friday, Dec. 16.

CRIDERSVILLE--The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team lost to Perry 56-43 in a non-conference contest Saturday night, December 10.

AHS wrestler Riblet wins at Lancer Invite

The Ada wrestling team boasted one individual champion as the Bulldog matmen finished 13th of 14 teams at the Lincolnview Lancer Invitational Saturday.

Bulldog freshman Silas Riblet won the 108 lbs. bracket crown to pace Ada with 30 points. Riblet posted three pins and a 14-10 decision win to fashion a perfect 4-0 record on the day.

Ada junior Clayton McClain went 3-1 at 152 lbs. to finish second in his weight bracket. He lost 7-2 in the finals to Will Chiow of Liberty-Benton.

AHS boys basketball loses heartbreaker at CG

COLUMBUS GROVE--The previously-undefeated Ada boys basketball team lost a 53-52 barnburner that went down to the very final second before being decided at Columbus Grove in a seesaw Northwest Conference opener Friday night.

"It was a tough game throughout, both sides played hard," said second-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. "It was back and forth at the end, and they just made one more play than we did in those last few possessions."  

Grove sophomore Trenton Barraza scored five baskets in the fourth period to lead the hosts to the tight win. 

Ada girls lose Bulldog battle to Grove

The Ada High School girls basketball team got behind early and lost 55-15 to visiting Columbus Grove in their annual Northwest Conference "Battle of the Bulldogs" Thursday night, December 8.

The Ada girls dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with a loss that ended their two-game win streak. The Grove girls evened their mark at 3-3 and 1-1 in the NWC with the one-sided victory.

The purple and gold were short-handed due to illness and injury.
