COLUMBUS GROVE__The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team was outscored 31-9 over the middle quarters at Columbus Grove and lost 63-22 in Northwest Conference action Thursday night, December 14.
Ada trailed 24-7 after the first period and never recovered.
CG guard Lauryn Auchmuty bombed in four triples and tallied 14 of her game-high 26 points in the opening stanza as the hosts built a big early lead and cruised to victory.
Auchmuty added nine more points in the second period to extend the lead to 36-15 at intermission.
The visiting Bulldog girls scored just one point in the third quarter while Grove tallied 19 as the hosts ballooned their advantage to 55-16.
The Ada girls dropped to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with the league defeat. The Grove girls improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in conference action after the one-sided victory.
Junior guard Lexi Poling led Ada with nine points. Senior Mariah King
added seven points. Sophomore Anna Conley contributed four markers.
CG’s Nicole Nesby also hit double figures with 13 points.
The Ada girls canned seven two-point goals and sank two three-point attempts. Ada converted just two of 12 free throws (17 percent).
The CG girls connected on 16 two-point field goals and splashed nine shots beyond the arc. Grove converted four of nine charity stripers (44 percent).
Ada will attempt to snap a four-game losing streak in their next game at Vanlue (1-4) next Tuesday, December 19.
