Junior Jerry Pasquale has been named OAC Wrestler of the Week.

Pasquale posted a 4-2 record which was good for a fourth place finish in the 125 pound weight class at the tough Midwest Classic.

The No. 17 Polar Bears finished seventh out of 26 teams with 72.5 points, and were the highest finishing Division III team at the tournament.

Pasquale ranks fourth on the team with 10 victories on the season.

Ohio Northern will be in action again on January 5 when they travel to face off against Washington & Lee (Va.) at 1 pm.

Senior Tara Tokar was named to the 2012 NSCAA Women's Scholar All-American team.

This is the second consecutive that Tokat has been named Scholar All-America.

To be named Scholar All-America, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.30 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

On the year, Tokar scored two goals and registered three assists.

Ohio Northern finished the season with a 13-5-5 record and won the program's OAC Tournament Championship.

The Polar Bears also advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA III Tournament for the second consecutive season.

Senior Morgan Dumbaugh has been named OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

On Saturday, Dumbaugh scored 17 points in the Polar Bears 79-54 win over Muskingum.

She sunk a free throw with 5:47 left in the game for her 1,000th career point.

She is the 10th member of the exclusive club.

On Sunday, Dumbaugh scored nine points, including two free throws to put the game away with seven seconds left, in Northern's 66-62 win at Denison.

She is averaging 11.3 ppg on the season, which is third on the team.

Ohio Northern, ranked No. 17 in the latest D3hoops.com poll, will take the court again on Wednesday at Otterbein. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30.

The No.17 Ohio Northern women's basketball team won their eighth game in a row with a 66-62 road victory at Denison on Saturday afternoon at Livingston Gymnasium.

With the win, the Polar Bears are now 9-1 on the season, while the Big Red fall to 5-4.

Junior Cenzie Yoder led the Polar Bears with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting.

Senior Joanna Snyder also scored in double figures with 13 points.

ONU found themselves ahead 60-49 with 7:29 remaining.

But the Big Red responded with a 7-0 run to make it 60-56 with 4:15 left.

ONU would put an end to the run on a layup by freshman Brooke Espenschied, expanding their lead to 62-56.

The No. 17 Ohio Northern men's wrestling team had five wrestlers place in the top eight, as the Polar Bears finished seventh of 26 teams at the Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis.

ONU finished with 72.5 points.

Newberry (S.C.) won the tournament with 159.5 points, Upper Iowa finished second with 118 points and Findlay was third with 110.

The Polar Bears were the finish was the best out of any Division III school in the tournament.

Senior Kyle Kwiat led ONU, notching a second place finish at 174 pounds.

Kwiat suffered his first defeat of the season in the finals, by a 3-2 decision to Mike Williams of UNC-Pembroke.

The Polar Bears, who have seven games in a row all by at least 15 points, are now 8-1 on the season and 4-0 in the OAC, while the Muskies  fall to 3-6, 0-4.

Dumbaugh notched point number 1,000 with 5:47 to go on a free throw.

"This is a great accomplishment," Daumbaugh said. "I have worked hard for this. But this is a team honor, as my teammates have done so much for me to get here."
