Chen wins three times to lead #25 Men's Swimming & Diving past Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD — Freshman Eric Chen won three times to lead the No. 25-ranked Ohio Northern men's swimming & diving team in a 125-106 victory at Wittenberg on Friday night at the HPER Natatorium.

The Polar Bears remain undefeated with a 4-0 record, while the Tigers fall to 2-4.

Chen won the 200 free in 1:48.94, won the 100 back in :55.66 and combined with senior John Beaschler, junior Brian Heilbronner and freshman Logan Pfeifer to win the 200 free relay in 1:29.08.

In all, ONU won six of the 11 swimming events on the night, including four of the five freestyle events.

Allison Lohnes wins twice to lead Women's Swimming & Diving at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD — Sophomore Allison Lohnes won twice to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team in a 153-81 non-conference loss at Wittenberg Friday night at the HPER Natatorium.

The Polar Bears fall to 3-2 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 5-1.

Lohnes won the 200 I.M. in 2:17.50 and the 100 back in 1:01.64.

Senior Lindsey Rayhill also had a strong meet, winning the 100 fly in 1:01.37 and finishing second in the 200 I.M. in 2:19.83.

Senior Jamie Garbash finished second behind Rayhill in the 100 fly in 1:03.33.

ONU's Cenzie Yoder named Preseason First Team All-America by D3hoops.com

D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Teams 

Senior Cenzie Yoder has been named Preseason First Team All-America by D3hoops.com.

Yoder is a three-year letter winner and has appeared in 79 games, making 57 starts.

Last season, she led the Polar Bears in scoring (14.1 ppg) and in rebounding (7.0 rpg) on her way to Second Team All-America honors.

In her career, she ranks 12th in rebounding with 497, 14th in field goals made with 362 and 20th in points with 895.

Several Ada HS students named "NWC scholar athlete"

Several Ada High School athletes were named Northwest Conference "Scholar-Athlete."
To be recognized:
1.  The athlete must be a letter winner in the sport.
2.  A GPA of 3.0 must be achieved during the grading period of the sport.

Angle throws for 276 yards, 3 TDS in ONU in at Wilmington

Junior Patrick Angle completed 21-of-26 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns and ran 10 times for 32 yards and another score to lead the Ohio Northern football team to a 52-10 win at Wilmington on a warm and windy Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-4 overall and are 4-4 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Quakers fall to 0-9, 0-8.

Sophomore Devon Price caught eight passes for 128 yards and a TD and sophomore Justin Magazine carried 16 times for 48 yards and a pair of scores for the Polar Bears.

Senior Josh Bryan had a team-high 7 tackles and a pass break up to lead the Ohio Northern defense.

Wildcats out-gain Bulldogs 479 yards to 342 but Ada wins

For the second time in three weeks, the Ada High School football Bulldogs marched into Stadium Park and defeated the Wildcats of Delphos Jefferson. Led by stand-out senior Matthew Wilcox, the seventh-seeded Bulldogs scored 12 fourth quarter points to bring home a hard fought 27-22, Division VI first round victory over the second-seeded Wildcats.
