Bulldog Hull named 1st team All-NWC cager

Senior wing Phillip Coulson was Ada's number two scorer and was voted honorable mention

DELPHOS - Two Ada boys cagers received All-Northwest Conference basketball honors from league coaches in voting conducted at their annual selection meeting Monday night.

Junior point guard Brandon Hull led the Bulldogs in scoring, assists and rebounds to earn inclusion on the six-player all-league first team.

Senior wing Phillip Coulson was Ada's number two scorer and was voted honorable mention all-conference.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season 9-13 overall and 3-5 in the NWC. 

Columbus Grove junior Blake Reynolds was chosen as the 2019-20 NWC Player of the Year by the league coaches at their meeting.  

Weeks has career-hit 18 points in tourney win

ONU women heading to OAC semifinals for 4th straight year

 Senior Abby Weeks (West Chester/Mount Notre Dame) netted a career-high 18 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team on Tuesday evening.

The Polar Bears propelled themselves into the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals by defeating Mount Union 58-50 inside the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (20-6 overall) will travel to University Heights to face No. 25-ranked John Carroll on Thursday at 7 p.m.

MTU (14-12 overall) cut the deficit to 54-50 with 53 seconds left. The Purple Raiders fouled 20 seconds later. Junior Sydney Ward (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and Weeks each drilled a pair of free throws to ice the game down the stretch.

Joshua Arnett heading to state junior high wrestling meet

Joshua Arnett is state bound for wrestling. He wrestled at the OAC Junior High District Championship in Vandalia Butler over the weekend.

He finished in third place in the 132-pound weight bracket. This qualifies him to participate in the junior high state championships in Youngstown in March.

Josh is a 7th grader from Ada. He wrestled for the Ada youth wrestling club and now wrestling for the Ada junior high wrestling team.

An Ada team to watch

The Ada Purple 5th grade boys' basketball team placed as runner-up in the NWOYBL in the boys' 5th grade division on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Bulldog Sumner earns All-NWC hoops notice

An Ada freshman received All-Northwest Conference girls basketball honors from league coaches in voting conducted at their annual selection meeting last Monday night.

Freshman point guard Courtney Sumner led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring, assists and three-pointers to earn honorable mention all-league notice.

"Courtney was a huge help not only because she is good and she is a true point guard, but because she allowed others to be put in positions where they can be most successful," said Ada head coach Morgan Bass.

ADA - Feisty host Ada played top-ranked and undefeated Columbus Grove even or better for the first 25 minutes, but a big fourth quarter lifted the visitors to a 56-46 win in the Northwest Conference boys basketball regular season finale Friday night.

Ada led 39-36 heading to the final period after senior post Jake Rayl made a layup off a Cayden Murphy pass. But Grove showed championship poise as they reeled off a 15-2 spurt over the next six minutes to seize a 10-point lead.
