Ohio Northern seniors Mackenzie Wills (Ada HS grad) and Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) were named Co-Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16.
Wills and Curry each went 6-0 as the Polar Bears (5-2 overall) won two of three matches in Nicholasville, Ky.
ONU began the weekend with a 5-4 loss to host Transylvania (Ky.) before sweeping LaGrange (Ga.) and Roanoke (Va.) 9-0.

BOWLING GREEN - Ada senior Klava Katayama set a district record and almost all Bulldog swimmers set personal-best times in 10 events in the Div. II district meet held at Bowling Green State University Friday evening.
Four Ada individual swimmers competed in two events apiece, and two girls relay squads also participated well at Bowling Green.
"Out of the 10 swims we had yesterday, almost every single one was a time improvement," noted Ada head coach Stephanie Steiner-McMahon.
Lady Bulldog standout Katayama made it to the state championships for the fourth straight season with two strong performances.

LIMA - Visiting Ada raced to a huge early lead and rolled past Lima Temple Christian 89-50 in non-conference boys basketball play Saturday night.
The Bulldogs built a 24-4 lead after the first period, and stretched the margin to 45-19 by halftime. Ada won the second half 44-31 to post their highest-scoring game of the season as 11 players scored.
"Early on we were able to force them into some turnovers and get the tempo where we wanted it," said Bulldog fourth-year head coach Dre White. "We shared the basketball and got the shots we wanted.

COLUMBUS GROVE - Ada finished seventh at the Northwest Conference championship wrestling tournament hosted by Columbus Grove High School on Saturday, February 15.
Defending champion Allen East won its ninth all-time NWC crown with 341 points to easily out-distance second-place Spencerville (223). Bluffton was right behind the Bearcats in third (218.5).
Ada ended up seventh with 106 points to finish 33 points ahead of last-place Lincolnview.

ADA - Host Ada racked up 45 first half points and went on to post an impressive 74-54 win over Lincolnview in Northwest Conference boys basketball action Friday night.
The Bulldogs shot 55 percent from the field and 43 percent beyond the arc to post the surprisingly lopsided win. Senior wing Phillip Coulson fired in a career-high 30 points to pace the Valentine's Day victory.
"It was our best game of the season," agreed Bulldog fourth-year head coach Dre White. "We shot well, but we also did a ton of other things right. It was good to see things all come together in one game.

The Northwest Conference wrestling tournament will be at Columbus Grove High School on Saturday, Feb.15, with both high school and junior high teams wrestling.
NWC teams include Ada, Allen East, Bluffton, Columbus Grove, Delphos Jefferson, Lincolnview, Paulding and Spencerville. Crestview will also compete in the junior high tournament.
Allen East won the championship in 2019 with its 8th championship, followed by Bluffton and Columbus Grove.
