Cheryl D. Rowe attended Ada High School

Cheryl D. Rowe, age 75, of Alger, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born on September 15, 1946, in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Norma (Obenour) Weller. On January 29, 1964, Cheryl married Bill G. Rowe and he preceded her in death on August 16, 2016. 

2021 Water Quality Report for Village of Ada

The Village of Ada has released the 2021 Water Quality Report on the village website. This annual report provides information about the sources of Ada drinking water, protective strategies for these three wells, and potential sources of contamination.

The report also includes testing results with detected contaminants listed. In 2021 none of the contaminants were in violation of EPA safe drinking water standards.

Evening Garden Affair on July 12

The Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are hosting “An Evening Garden Affair” on Tuesday evening, July 12 at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County located at 960 W. Kohler Street in Kenton. The event is from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. and will feature Rachel Hoverman of OSU Extension-Van Wert County with a program about “Planting for Year-Round Color.”

Attendees will gather in the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County for tours at 6:30 p.m. with Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers. Learn about the many different themed gardens at this educational demonstration garden.

Ruby Jane Nichols was a homemaker

Ruby Jane Nichols, age 88, of Alger, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Blanchard House, Kenton.

She was born on March 18, 1934, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Eddie and Susie (Allen) Poe.  Ruby married Bud Nichols and he preceded her in death.

Ruby is survived by two sons: Ronald Nichols of Arlington, and Randy Nichols of Portland, OR; three daughters: Esther Fay of Portland, OR, Cathy Anspach of Ada and Sharon Emerich of Quincy; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers: John Poe of Lima, Carl Poe of Ada; and three sisters: Dorothy Garver of Kentucky, Marcia Phillips of Kenton and Mary Daniels of Spencerville.

July 23 Safe Haven purse bingo and raffle items rolling in

Safe Haven of Hardin County is hosting their 11th Annual Designer Purse Bingo event on Saturday, July 23 at the Kenton Moose Lodge, 801 W. Lima St.

The organization has begun posting raffle items on their Facebook page and will gladly accept additional donations--and pick them up.

Admission is $35 ($40 at the door) and includes 15 games of Bingo, heavy hors d'oevres, silent auction, 50/50, raffle item, wallet raffle.

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:00 p.m.
