Gusty winds expected; secure items that may blow away

The US National Weather Service for Northern Indiana reminds us that "With strong, gusty winds expected throughout the day on Thursday (February 9), make sure you are prepared.

"Store/secure any outdoor items before winds pick up overnight and make sure you know how to safely drive during strong winds!"

Bluffton Chocolate Walk promises a tasty haul

Take a peek at today's news from the Ada Icon's sister publication, the Bluffton Icon.

Bluffton merchants are hosting the 2023 Chocolate Walk from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16. Twelve Bluffton merchants are participating in the event, which provides chocolate treats to ticket holders.

The haul is more chocolate than most folks can consume in an evening. Bringing a bag to hold treats is recommended.

Tickets are being sold in advance for $10 each. Amaximum of 200 tickets will be sold.

June camp at ONU's Raabe College of Pharmacy

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy is hosting a Pharmacy Camp from June 11-16, 2023. This camp is open to high school students who will be entering their Junior or Senior year.

During the weeklong pharmacy course, students will discover the expanding role pharmacists play in improving patient lives. Students first learn the history of pharmacy and then progress through hands-on experiences that introduce them to a variety of pharmacy disciplines.

With the guidance of ONU faculty and health care leaders in the area, students learn about drug modeling, design and development; compounding lab work; visit multiple pharmacy settings; perform research on drug information; and learn more about the expanding role of pharmacists in patient care, assessment and counseling.

Students present a final project to ONU faculty and parents.

AHS girls basketball rallies past feisty Tigers

Sumner nets 28 in home finale

The Ada High School girls basketball team rallied from a huge early deficit to beat scrappy visiting Waynesfield-Goshen 59-51 on Tuesday, February 7, in their hard-fought Senior Night home season finale.

W-G raced to a 14-0 lead, but Ada patiently chipped away and took its first lead at the third-period buzzer, then never trailed again.
