Scam pretending to be Find a Ride

Area residents report receiving calls seeking donations for Find A Ride Program 

Lima, OH–Area residents have reported receiving calls from individuals claiming to be from the Find A Ride Program and soliciting donations.

The Find A Ride Program and Area Agency on Aging 3 does not contact via phone to solicit donations. Please do not give bank or credit card information to anyone over the phone that claims to seek donations on behalf of Find A Ride or the Area Agency on Aging 3.

The former Celtic player and coach hit the first 3-pointer in NBA history and won three rings in Boston

Ford died at age 74 Tuesday of heart failure, the latest in a long line of Celtic champions to perish recently.

Known as a very smart and fundamentally sound player, Ford was the starting off guard for Boston when they won the 1981 NBA title, also against the Rockets. He later served as a Celtic assistant coach for seven seasons and was a key staff member under K.C. Jones on the 1984 and 1986 championship teams.

In the batter's box: New ONU softball stadium

Ohio Northern University has announced it will build a new softball stadium through the generosity of lead donors Melinda (Durbin) Hileman, BA ’87, and David Hileman, BSBA ’86, BSPh ’86, longtime University supporters.

Stadium construction will begin at the end of the Spring ’23 softball season with a dedication event planned later in the year. Among the planned features are heated dugouts, field lighting, a new scoreboard with updated technology, padded backstop, upgraded press box, and permanent bleachers with bucket seating. The university is working with architects at Fanning Howey in Celina, Ohio.

Hardin County Tractor Pullers schedule

The Hardin County Tractor Pullers have announced the following tentative schedule for 2023.

Organizers note: "We are still working out the details on some of these events, but here is our schedule as we have it penciled down this far."

USDA conducts hemp survey

USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will send the Hemp Production and Disposition Inquiry to over 150 Ohio producers on Jan. 19. This follows NASS’s 2021 Hemp Acreage and Production survey. Like the 2021 questionnaire, this year’s survey will collect information on the total planted and harvested area, yield, production, and value of hemp in the United States in 2022.

“The Hemp Production and Disposition Inquiry will provide critical data about the hemp industry to assist producers, regulatory agencies, state governments, processors, and other key industry entities,” according to the USDA NASS, Great Lakes Regional Field Office.
