Community Health Professionals offer continuing ed program Sept. 17 in Ada

Community Health Professionals will host a free continuing education program, “Improving Patient Adherence – Tools for Success,” for physicians, nurse practitioners and pharmacists on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 1159 Westwood Dr., Van Wert, and again on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 1200 S. Main St., Ada, 9-10 a.m. both dates.

This one-hour continuing education program is presented by Raabe College of Pharmacy, Ohio Northern University.

Natalie A. DiPietro, Pharm D. MPH will be the presenter. The Ada event will include a continental breakfast sponsored by Liberty National Bank of Ada.

Hardin fair offers ag education for youth

Mark Light provided the following information about two new things that will educate young people about agriculture this week at the Hardin County Fair.  

4-H @ 4

4-H at 4:00- Everyday during the fair from 4:00-5:00, between the Hog and Sheep Barns.  Hardin County 4-H Council has received a grant from the Hardin County Community Foundation to conduct a short daily program for kids at the fair this year. 

We are calling it 4-H at 4:00.  Each day will feature a different 4-H related activity.  Activities will run from 4:00 to 5:00, but most will only take 15-20 minutes for kids to complete.  

Northern mathematics professors recognized

 

Two Ohio Northern University professors of mathematics, Khristo Boyadzhiev and Mihai Caragiu, have been named to a list of the Top 25 STEM college professors in Ohio by StateStats.org, in conjunction with partner website OnlineSchoolsOhio.com.

The two sites set out to find post-secondary educators who had been recognized recently for excellence in the classroom, on campus and in the community. Statestats.org is a nonprofit organization that builds free, open-source tools with the goal of increasing accessibility to education and information through the use of new technologies.

Coat drive underway at ReStore - giveaway starts Oct. 1

Search your closets, attics and storage. Do you have a coat you no longer wear?

The ReStore Center in Ada is collecting coats for its annual coat drive and give-away.  Beginning Oct. 1 coats will be available at The ReStore Center one free coat per person. 

Every year this need becomes very evident and donated clean coats are put to good use. 

Or, do you need a coat? Please come by and inquire at the front desk. One free coat to each individual. If you know anyone (adult or child) who needs a coat, please send them to The ReStore Center in Ada. 

The Center thanks the community for assisting in this valuable community service.
 

Mark Wolke wins the Icon's first weekly football contest

Mark Wolke is the winner of the "practice round," of the Icon's fall football contest. He picked the winner in every game. With this week's contest (Week 2, deadline 5 p.m. Friday), starts the cummulative contest. Each contestant's points will be tabulated and in addition to a weekly winner, one contestant will be the overall winner at the end of the season.

Several prizes will be presented to the weekly winner and overall winner. Those prizes will be announced next week. Corey Greer is the contest judge.
