Ada's 2021-22 school year has time changes

School day will start earlier and will end earlier

Ada schools announce a new starting time and ending time for the school day for the 2021-22 school year.

The announcement was made on the school website on Friday. The announcement follows: 

Through an examination of our school procedures and through feedback we have received over the years, a recommendation was made to the Board of Education at the March 18, 2021, planning session to change the start and end of our school day beginning in the 2021-22 school year.

The recommendation was made to change our school day hours to 8:05 a.m. to 3 p.m. for all students in grades K-12.

2 I-75 projects impact travel around Findlay

Ohio Department of Transportation announced two projects that impact traffic on Interstate 75 around Findlay next week:.

• Interstate 75 northbound, on the southern end of the city of Findlay, will have overnight lane restrictions in the two right lanes for bridge maintenance.

The left lane will remain open.

The work zone will begin south of the U.S. 68 interchange and extend to just past the U.S. 68 fly over ramp. 

The lane closures will begin on Thursday, April 22, at 7 p.m. and extend until 7 a.m. on Friday.

• Interstate 75 southbound entrance ramp from Lima Ave will close on April 27 for approximately one week for a culvert replacement

Ada seniors will soon perch on Main Street

Second year for graduating senior banner project downtown

Like last year, Ada High School graduating seniors will perch themselves along Main Street later this spring.

For the second year, graduating senior banners for Ada High School and Ada Apollo graduates will fly high as Ada council recently approved the project.

This year there are 56 graduates who will have their senior banner displayed.

“We are hoping to have them completed once again with the help of Linda Crawford of The Way I See It Photography by the first weekend of May,” Jennifer Wince told the Icon.

“All banners have been donated by the Ada community similar to last year,” she said, adding a special thank you to donors.

Plenty of appointments remain available to the public for Ohio Northern University’s state-sponsored COVID-19 mobile mass vaccination clinic, scheduled for this Friday, April 16, from 2-6:30 p.m. at King Horn Sports Center’s field house.

Hardin County ODOT construction update

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Hardin County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

• U.S. 68 and State Route 309 will have moving operations for herbicidal spraying along the right-of-way and guardrail. 

• State Route 37 between the village of Forest and the Hancock County line will have lane restrictions for resurfacing.

• State Route 53 between the village of Forest and the city of Kenton will have lane restrictions for resurfacing.
