The Hardin County Dairy Service Unit will be awarding a scholarship at their annual banquet on Feb. 15.  Funds raised from the association’s semi-annual cheese sale are used to support higher education with this scholarship program. 

Eligible students must live on a dairy farm, have grown up on a dairy farm, work on a dairy farm, be pursuing a dairy related education, or have shown a dairy heifer or dairy cow project at the Hardin County Fair. 

The Ada Academic and Ada Music Boosters are co-sponsoring a purse/jewelry auction and live raffle just in time for Valentine’s Day. 

The fundraiser will support academic scholarships and music programs at the Ada Schools. 

The fundraiser will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Ada Armory. Tickets are $10 and include snacks and a chance at several  door prizes. There are designer purses,  Lia Sophia jewelry and other prizes totaling over $2,500. 

Other prizes include Yankee candles, Pampered Chef, Ada Spiritwear, and Thirty-One.

Approximately 675 sophomores in Apollo Career Center¹s 11-member district, including Ada HS sophomores, will visit Apollo during 411Blast, Friday, Jan. 31. Parents of sophomore students interested in attending Apollo for the 2014-15 school year are also invited to attend.

Ada students will attend sessions held at noon to 12:58. and 1:02 to 2 p.m. 

This day is designed to expose students to career possibilities that they may not know about. Students choose two programs of interest and then spend one-half day visiting those labs, meeting the instructors and participating in fun, interactive demos and activities.

Two meetings of importance are scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 22, for students, and parents of students planning to enroll in college after high school graduation, according to Erinn Prater, Ada High School guidance counselor. For additional information, contact Prater at 419- 634-3086.

Ada's first American Red Cross blood drive of the year is Monday, Jan. 13. The drive takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Ada Visiting Nurses and Hospice, 1200 S. Main St. Ada.

The second blood drive of the year is Monday, Jan. 20, at Ohio Northern University's McIntosh Center. The drive is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
