Rep. Clyde speaker at Hardin Democrat fall luncheon

The keynote speaker for the Hardin County Democrats Fall Campaign Luncheon will be State Representative Kathleen Clyde.  Rep. Clyde is in her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives and represents the 75th Ohio House District.

Pick up Krispy Kreme doughtnuts Oct. 4

Ada Music Boosters had a successful Krispy Kreme doughnuts sale, according to Cliff Maier, booster president.

Doughnuts may be picked up during the Ada homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 4, (admission to the game is not required for pickup).

Apollo Career Center hosts northwest region school board conference

Apollo Career Center will host the Ohio School Boards Association Northwest Region Fall Conference Thursday, Oct. 3, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Apollo Career Center will be recognized for Community Service for the Big Brother’s Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon fundraiser organized by instructor Toby Prinsen and Skills USA officers.
Apollo graduate Jeff Horner will be honored with a Humanitarian award for sharing his prom king title with Alex Hunter.

Apollo Administrative and Medical Office Technology senior Dylan Green will also recognized for humanitarianism for his community service to Lima Memorial Hospital and his school and community.

Get a close look at the Andromeda Galaxy Friday night at ONU Observatory

The ONU Astronomy Club invites Icon viewers to attend the next event at the ONU Observatory. The theme is "The Andromeda Galaxy," and the free event runs from 8 to 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27.

The Friday program's main target will be the Andromeda Galaxy, the biggest, brightest galaxy in the northern sky (after the Milky Way).

Dr. J. Pinkney, professor of physics and astronomy at ONU, will give a short presentation on this galaxy around 9 p.m., followed by a Q&A session.

Ada midget football team invites community to Oct. 13 cancer walk

The Ada midget football team will host a cancer walk at the Ada War Memorial Stadium and Park from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13. Pre-registration begins at 1:30 p.m.

Tim Campbell, coach, said, "This is a fun event open to the public and everyone of all ages. Be part of our pack and join the fight."

All money, donations and t-shirt order forms are due to Campbell by Monday, Sept. 30. "Not only is this a chance to support the fight against cancer, it is also an opportunity to help young athletes come together as a team and become involved in service to Ada."

Bluffton invites Ada residents to Saturday's fall festival

Last weekend was Ada's Harvest and Herb Fest. This is Bluffton's turn for weekend events. Activities are planned in many locations in the 10th annual Bluffton Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The community-wide festival offers lots of family-oriented events, free and open to the public, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival.
