Liberty Township receives less rain in June that other Hardin townships

For the growing season since April 15, the average precipitation in all the townships was 16.29 inches, with a wide range from 12.82 inches in Liberty Township to 19.23 inches in Pleasant Township

Hardin County Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 7.08 inches of rain in Hardin County during June, according to Mark Badertscher, extension agent.

Last year, the average rainfall for June was 6.09 inches. Rainfall for June 2019 was 1.46 inches more than the ten-year average rainfall in the month of June.  

Dudley Township received 10.24 inches, the most of the township sites. The least rain in June, 4.51 inches was collected in Liberty Township.

ONU Mobile Health Clinic has busy July-August schedule

Next Ada visit is Aug. 28 at the public library

The Ohio Northern University mobile clinic will be busy for the remainder of July and August. Here’s the schedule now through Aug. 31. The clinic’s next stop in Ada is on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

• Monday, July 22 – Forest food distribution center, 1-3 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 23 – Dunkirk community dinner, 5-7 p.m.
• Thursday, July 25 – Kenton, Open Gate, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
• Friday, July 26 – Bluffton Public Library, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Quarterly CIC meeting moved to July 24

The quarterly meeting of the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) has moved to noon, Thursday, July 24, at the Ada depot. The meeting was previously scheduled for July 17.

Miniature garden workshops offered by Master Gardeners

Area gardeners and others with an interest in gardening are invited to attend the summer gardening programs offered at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County. 

This summer the Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are sponsoring educational demonstration programs in the Friendship Gardens, 960 W. Kohler St., in Kenton, behind Harco Industries. Follow the ‘Friendship Gardens of Hardin County’ signs to a parking area off of West Kohler Street. The events begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings and will last about an hour.

Mud in your eye on Saturday

Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo hosts 6th annual Get Dirty for Downs Mud Volleyball Tournament in Ada

Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo comes to Ada on Saturday for its sixth annual Get Dirty for Downs Mud Volleyball Tournament. The games take place in the tractor pull area on the east side of the park.

Check in opens at 2 p.m. and following the opening ceremony, play begins at 3:30 p.m.
All teams will enter tournament playoffs after completion of round robin games. 

Food trucks are on site during the tournament and there is a basket raffle, live auction and 50/50 raffle.
