COVID-19 Update: Child care ratios to be lifted

Additional restrictions announced for Local Fairs

Governor Mike DeWine today provided the following updates related to Ohio's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

CHILD CARE RATIOS
Governor DeWine announced that child care providers in Ohio may return to their normal, statutory ratios and class sizes beginning on Aug. 9, 2020. 

Child care providers have a choice to increase the number of children and staff members to the normal statutory ratios or to maintain their current, lower ratios to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) is structuring a financial incentive to providers that maintain smaller ratios and classroom sizes.

In June, the Arbor Day Foundation honored Ohio Northern University once again as a Tree Campus USA university for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship.

"The Tree Campus USA program will have a long-lasting impact at Ohio Northern as it engages college students and local citizens to plant trees and create healthier communities for people to enjoy for decades to come," said John Rosenow, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.

Ada Academic Booster membership drive underway

Volunteer organization encourages students from grades K to 12

Ada Academic Boosters launched its 2020-21 membership drive this week.

The volunteer organization recognizes and encourages academic achievement in grades K through 12 in the Ada schools.

This year’s drive seeks monetary donations and volunteers. A member form is attached at the bottom of this story.

Several membership levels are available:
• Family membership $10
• Purple level $25
• Gold level $50
• Lamp of Knowledge level $100
• Academic excellence $250

Ada Adventure, Rotary chicken barbecue, Lincoln Highway garage sale

Three August events have Ada written all over them.

• On Thursday, Aug. 6, Ohio Northern University hosts a new program "Ada Adventure" as a part of its Welcome Weekend with new students. 

Throughout the day (from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.) students will walk throughout the downtown area in small groups to explore the village. Ohio Northern University is hoping to point out all of the businesses and opportunities for the new students.
