Hardin County farmer Levern Weaver recently directed a $2,500 America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation, sponsored by Bayer Fund, to Hardin County 4-H.
The 4-H Program will use the funds to conduct a new Agricultural Science program with Cloverbud members. This program will provide hands-on learning to 4-Hers who are in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Youth will explore soil science, water quality, careers in the agriculture industry, and more. The program will take place in April – September of 2021.
“I cannot thank Mr. Weaver enough for nominating Hardin County 4-H for this donation” said, Amanda Raines, 4-H Youth Development Educator with OSU Extension Hardin County.
“The COVID-19 pandemic severely limited our Cloverbud programming in 2020. With this donation, we will be able to start the Cloverbud Ag Explorers program, even if we are limited to virtual programming in Spring of 2021.
"Our goal is to hold the program in-person, but if COVID-19 prevents that, we will be able to create kits to mail to participants for virtual events.
"Mr. Weaver’s nomination and the generosity of the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program will help spark an early interest in Agriculture for our youngest 4-Hers.”
