Ada Schools has openings for several substitute employees

Ada schools has immediate openings for substitute aides, secretaries and bus drivers, according to Meri Skilliter, superintendent.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, Ada Schools will change its morning and afternoon transportation locations. 

The change came about because the school has identified safety concerns with its current flow of traffic during arrival and dismissal times.

"Based upon observations by administrators, the transportation director, and the school resource officer, we feel it is necessary to make changes to our current transportation procedures," said Meri Skilliter, Ada superintendent.

• The north entrance, off of State Route 81 will now be the new bus loading and unloading zone.

• The south entrance, off Grand Avenue will become the student drop off and pick up location.

Drive-thru flu shot clinic on Saturday

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kenton

The Kenton Hardin Health Department will hold a drive-thru flu shot clinic this weekend. Check the map below for the traffic flow proceedure.

It is Saturday, Oct. 3, in the parking lot under the Health Department in Kenton and the hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Flue shots are given without persons leaving their vehicles.

About the Clinic:
• Masks required for the safety of staff and individuals.
• Vaccines available for ages 6 months and up.
• Personal insurance and Medicare accepted.
• Bring your driver’s license and insurance cards.
• High-dose flu vaccine available for persons 65 and older.

Temperatures ranged from high of 87, low of 38 in September

But the average temperature of 64.8 was close to the the month's normal average

Icon viewers experienced a 49-degree temperature range in September, with a low of 38 degrees on Sept. 19 and a high of 87 degrees on Sept. 8.

Despite that wide temperature gap, the average September 2020 temperature was 64.8 degrees, compared to the normal average September temperature of 64.1, according to Guy Verhoff, U.S. weather observer in Pandora.

September 2020 had 1.58 inches of rain, lower than the normal September average of 2.96 inches. Only seven days in September registered either a trace or more of precipitation. The heaviest rain was 0.73 inches on Sept. 7, Labor Day.

Ada seeks substitute bus drivers for 2020-21

Ada Schools is looking for substitute bus drivers for the 2020-21 school year.

Qualified applicants should complete and submit the classified application to Gigi Fetter, Executive Secretary.

Applications can be found on the website at https://www.adabulldogs.org/Employment. Training will be provided at no cost.

Sheriff receives grant for selective traffic enforcement

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office has received grant funding for deputies
to work the High Velocity Traffic Enforcement Program on overtime hours for
the program year Oct.1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, according to Dennis Burns, chief deputy with the department.
