League of Women Voters hosts forum on journalism

6:30 p.m. on October 1, Lima Public Library

The League of Women Voters of the Lima Area will hold an informational, hour-long forum, "How Journalism  Works" on Tuesday, October 1.

Dr. Shane Tilton, an  Associate Professor of Writing and Multimedia Studies at Ohio Northern University, will discuss why journalism is still important, especially when we get information from fragmented sources, and how journalism works as a cornerstone for society.

The League of Women Voters of the Lima Area is part of a national non-partisan  organization founded in 1920 that encourages citizens to take an active and informed role  in government.

Ridgemont Local Schools student faces charges of inducing panic

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office released the following announcement on the afternoon of September 25:

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office and Ridgemont Local School District [Mt. Victory] learned of a threat made by a current student on September 25, 2024.

The School Resource Officer and school officials immediately removed the student from class. As a result of the investigation, one juvenile was taken into custody and faces charges of inducing panic. The juvenile was transported to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center where he will remain until he can be arraigned in the Hardin County Juvenile Court.

Jackson Twp cold case from Allen Co. Sheriff's Office

Summary of Harrod, Ohio cold case from the Allen County Sheriff, issued September 19, 2024.

William "Billy" Brown

On or about the 8th day of November 2020, Allen County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 700 block of North Phillips Road in Jackson Township, Harrod, Ohio. When Deputies arrived, they located William Brown deceased near the roadway. Mr. Brown was transported to Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy to establish his cause and manner of death.

Allen County Sheriff's Office Detectives and supporting agencies are investigating this case as a Suspicious Death.

As the hot weather of summer starts to cool down, many of those who  own a swimming pool are preparing to winterize or take them down. Because the water used in them is treated with chemicals, it is important  that they are drained properly.

Liberty Twp. announces Twp Rd 35 closure Sept 24-25

Township Rd 35 will be closed to thru traffic from CR 50 to CR 60 onTuesday and Wednesday, Sept 24-25.

The road will be widened and paved. Please plan to take an alternate route on those days.
