Mayor's annual report reflects on council, fiscal status, projects and more

Routine issues in the Village continue to be handled well. Ada is fortunate to have had active, deliberative, engaged, intelligent and dedicated councilors for many years and that has much to do with the current state of the village.

Councilors routinely challenge themselves and each other to ensure that they get to a solution that is right for the village and pay close attention to the finances and assets of the village. This allows Ada to be prepared for future needs, opportunities and emergencies.

Recycling in Ada adds a victory lap

Rumpke now accepts polypropylene plastic tubs: plastic bottles, jugs and other containers • butter, sour cream and cottage cheese tubs • yogurt and fruit cups

Ada recycling bins are about to become tubbier, and it’s a good thing, according to Rumpke Waste and Recycling.

Rumpke, the contractor for Ada waste and recycling collection, announced this month an  expansion what it accepts as recycled items.

The addition includes polypropylene plastic tubs. These products are labeled #5. (Please note that not all #5 items may be recycled, however.)

Ada schools return to traditional schedule on Tuesday

After looking a numbers and meeting with the health department

Meri Skilliter, Ada school superintendent, yesterday updated the school community with its next school plan. Here letter to the community follows:

After looking at our numbers, and meeting with the health department today, we are happy to announce that it is our plan to start students back to school on a traditional schedule, all students five days a week, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021.

As always, continuing this model will be dependent on staffing numbers, recommendations from the county health department, and any state mandates that might occur.

The following notice is from the Kenton-Hardin County Health Department concerning vaccine scheduling:

We are aware that individuals are having trouble getting through on our phone lines for vaccine scheduling.

We would ask for patience at this time as we do not have an alternate way of scheduling, we are working on this issue.

Please try to leave a message to receive a call back for information on your appointment date and time. At this time we would ask that you leave a message at extension 1801 or 1803.
