Ada bagpiper performs at Bluffton's Maple Crest

Bluffton's Maple Crest senior living community kicked off National Assisted Living Week week with a performance of bagpipes played by Stephan R. Johnson of Ada. The week was Sept. 7-13 and the week's theme was "the magic of music!"

Johnson was formally dressed in his Irish kilt (the Irish wear solid colored kilts) with every detail in place from the knife in his sock to the shoes with no tongue (so muddy water can drain out).

15 minutes with Lindsay Walden who plans to be the fifth generation working in her family business someday

15 minutes with Lindsay Walden, Ada High School senior. Note this is our first "15 minutes" interview of the school year. Watch for many more.

What’s your class schedule this year?

I’m taking Communications, Chemistry 1, Calculus, office volunteer, Spanish 4, AP English, Physics and I end the day with a study hall.

Members were asked to keep the Cox and Marshall families in their prayers.

Sandy Neely thanked members for the get-well card and noted that she was glad to be back after recent surgery.

Where are they from? Here's a first-year ONU student profile

By Torie Wright

Note: This is the first in a series of interviews with ONU students, simply answering the question: "Where are they from?"

I was at the end of a line of cars the other day, which got me to thinking. Ada’s population seemingly doubles when ONU is in session. For the first time in my nearly 22 years living here, I wondered where the people I share this town with come from. I decided to find out.

I wandered around ONU’s campus and found 18-year-old freshman Psychology major Tessa Duffy, who sat down with me to talk.

15 minutes with Hannah Gamble, now in Chicago: “I miss the quiet”

By Torie Wright

Note: The Icon welcomes Torie Wright as a fall intern. She attends OSU-Lima where she is an English major. Torie is a 2011 Ada High School grad and will be contributing several stories to the Icon.

To start things off, tell us the name of your college, what your major is, and what year you are.

I go to VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. I am a flute major here and will go on to be a music teacher. I am currently starting my senior year here.

What was the hardest part about first moving from Ada to Chicago?
