Hardin County Master Gardeners win state awards

The Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers (MGV) brought back three state awards from the Ohio MGV Conference held this past weekend at Maumee Bay State Park near Toledo. 

The Hardin County Developmental Disabilities Board, Master Gardener Dave McPheron, and the local program ‘Children’s Day at the Friendship Gardens,’ were recognized as state winners at this annual conference. 

Tom Lehman turns over Ada troop to new Scoutmaster

Longtime Ada Scoutmaster Tom Lehman was recognized Aug 31 as he turned over the Ada Boy Scout Troop to Jeff Kurtz.

The ceremony took place at the Scout Cabin in Ada ParK.

Lehman was recognized for  30 years of service to scouting in Ada.  He has served on committees designed to help the Troop, as well as, Cubmaster for Pack 124, Scoutmaster for Troop 124, and Leader of Venture Crew 124.

His successor, Jeff Kurtz, formerly a Den Leader of Pack 120 of Alger, joined Troop 124 in 2012 when his son became a Boy Scout in the Troop.

Ada Scouting added a lot of new members this week

Scouting added a lot of new members in Ada during a meeting Wednesday in the school cafeteria.

Abby Neville wins 3rd place in Versatility class at fair

Abigail Neville receives 3rd place in the Versatility class at the Allen County Fair last week.

Abby and her horse, Docs Sug O'Pine, competed in four events, Hunt Seat Equitation, Horsemanship, Reining and Barrel Racing.

 

Nathan Allen wins Pony Pleasure Class at fair

Nathan Allen, a member of the Classic Showmen 4-H Club, showed and won the Pony Pleasure Class at the Allen County Fair last week.

He and his horse JJ competed in several events in the 4-H competition.

Ada Rotary Club hears about retention of skilled labor force

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce president Deb Curlis joins Jon Cross, president of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, after Cross addressed Tuesday's noon meeting of the Ada Rotary Club at The Inn at Ohio Northern. 

Development and retention of a skilled labor force will be essential to Hardin County's continued growth, Cross told Rotarians.
