Boots and Buckles 4-H report for May 23

Meeting was called to order by President Chloe Anderson. Club said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. 

Next was roll call, answering “Where is your dream vacation?” 

Then the minutes from the last meeting were read by secretary Josie Schwemer. Treasurer’s report was given by treasure Issac Anderson.

New business

- Livestock registration deadline is June 1, 2022 except dairy feeders and broilers.

- Dairy feeder weigh in is May 28.

- Quality Assurance is May 22. Members who take Livestock must attend a QA meeting. The club is buying the members stall signs for the fair.

Seven Ada students received Lions Club scholarships

On May 25, The Ada Lions Club honored this year’s scholarship recipients. As recipients were announced, these Ada High School students shared their plans following graduation. The club provided a meal to all scholarship recipients and their families, according Bob Simmons, the club's scholarship chairperson.

This year, the Club awarded seven scholarships for a total of $7250.00. One special scholarship award was given in honor of Joe Allen,who began the mulch project in 2000. Kirsten Poling received this scholarship award. 

Scholarship recipients are:

Madison Archer - $500

Riley Ferguson - $500

Selena Gonzalez-Jordan - $1200

Photo-story: "Authorator" David Biedrzycki visits Ada Elementary School

On May 20, the Ada Schools hosted author-illustrator David Biedrzycki for three high-energy presentations to elementary students. Biedrzycki–who calls himself an “anthorator”--explained how he develops a book, answered student questions, and showed how he uses digital illustration tools. 

AHS Class of 2022 awards and scholarships

It's a heady time for Ada High School seniors. They will wrap up their school days on Monday, May 23. Commencement for the Class of 2022 will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29 in the high school gymnasium. And at the Senior Honor Awards ceremony on Monday, May 16, the highest performing students were celebrated with a dinner and the announcement of awards and scholarships.

Lauren Mullins, Kirsten Poling, Lucille Wall, Isaac Williams, Dexter Woods III and Molly Zimmerman earned the honor of Valedictorians, while Selena Gonzalez-Jordan was named Salutatorian.

List of Ada 2022 graduates from Bluffton University

Bluffton University has announced the following graduates from the greater Ada area including Alger.

Seth Evans of Ada, Ohio, earned bachelor’s degrees in history and sports management from Bluffton University. Evans was the recipient of the Sports Management Distinguished Scholar Award.

Taylor Risner of Ada, Ohio, earned a Master of Arts in Education from Bluffton University.

Allyson Richardson of Alger, Ohio, earned a bachelor’s degree in primary education P-5 from Bluffton University. Richardson graduated as a member of
Pi Delta Society.

Meeting was called to order by President Chloe Anderson. Club said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. 

We had a guest speaker, Kenton Mayor Lynn Jones Webb. She talked about leadership  and encouraging us to “step into the ring of fire” and make a positive difference in our community. Thank you Mayor Lynn Webb for coming and speaking to us. 

Next was roll call with answering “What is your last name?” 

Then the minutes from the last meeting were read by secretary Josie Schwemer. Treasurer’s report was then given by treasure Issac Anderson.
