Here's an update on the Ada Junior Civic League from Linda Staley, secretary:

The Nov. 14 meeting was held in the home of Linda Ferguson with Shirley Chambers serving as co-hostess.

Sherry Evans reported for the ways-n-means committee that the pecans were here and had been dispersed to all members. Due to the high volumn of sales the club would order an additional 4 cases.

Jaime Wills provided photos of the clubs donation for the Festival of Trees.  Erin Swick provided a report from Phyllis Griffith on Crock Pot Tuesday that the club hosted in October she stated the club provided food for 59 people.

Here's news updates from Jon Umphress on the Ada Kiwanis Club:

• Club members Carol Friesner, Marilyn Green, and Sandy Neely will chair a committee to plan and organize the club’s annual Christmas Luncheon/ Auction.

The event will be held at the Community Health Professionals on Tuesday Dec. 13, at noon. Members of the Lima Kiwanis Club and the Ada Rotary Club will be invited to attend to attend. Gift of books to classes at the Ada Elementary Nursery School will presented by the club. Auction proceeds will be donated to the Ada Food Pantry.

Emily Jay has 34 photographs on exhibition

Ohio Northern University Art Professor Emily Jay points to a plaster mold of her feet that she photographed to show how landscape affects us. How does this photo show landscape with no trees, mountains, or oceans?

Emily explained that she buried the plaster molds in the dirt in Norway. Upon digging them up a month later, she discovered them cracked, moldy, and slimy...thus, the terrain and weather in Norway affected her molds.

This is just one of 34 photographs on display in the Bluffton University Sauder Visual Arts Center's Grace Albrecht Gallery on Spring Street.

Tom Lehman (left) and Dave Savino were among many who helped organize food brought to the Ada Food Pantry. The Pantry now has much more to offer to those who need help with food expenses.

Javon Keith, 2, wanted to be a big helper--and was--when Scouts brought non perishable food to the Ada Food Pantry on Saturday morning.

Meet Bo. It's a Whippet mix, and is looking for a new home.

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.
Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.
