The Daisies and Brownies in Ada celebrated the 106th birthday of Girl Scouts on Sunday evening with a “slumber party” in McIntosh Center.
It wasn’t an “all nighter” for the children since it ended at 8 p.m., but the youngsters enjoyed a movie and popcorn.
The kids brought their stuffed animals and blankets to watch the movie “Sing.” The Daisy Troop has 15 members and is led by Alexandria Lacombe. Leaders of the four-member Brownie Troop are Kristi Montgomery and Jessica Keckler.

The Ada High School Winter Guard placed third among 33 color guards at the Winter Guard International regional competition in Nashville this weekend.
The guard qualified for the exhibition performance on Saturday evening. In this Facebook photo, the Winter Guard makes a dramatic pose in bare feet, which means the Tennessee weather is a little warmer than here.
Harry Potter is this year’s theme, thus the brooms and wands.

There’s a new sports cheer and it was devised by none other than a member of the Ottawa-Glandorf school board.
The antics were displayed at the O-G girls basketball game on Tuesday at King Horn Gym in Ada. Will this catch on nationwide like The Wave did a few years ago? Maybe...
The “inventor” says the cheer doesn’t have a name yet. The Ada Icon suggests calling it “Bowling for Baskets” or “The Wobbler.”
