Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H report for March 2025

The 2025 4-H season started. Ada Barnyard Farmers went to the bowling alley for a kickoff party. The whole 4-H group had pizza, we enjoyed bowling and playing in the arcade.

In our first meeting, we had elections. The current officers are:

Hall, Mason and Simon honored at 2024 Ada Distinguished Awards

The February 27 Ada Distinguished Awards, coordinated by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, celebrated those who went above and beyond in their businesses, jobs and volunteer work. More than 150 area residents, business leaders and officials gathered at Liberty Oaks to recognize three outstanding individuals for 2024:

  • Jamie Hall, Village of Ada Administrator, Citizen of the Year
  • Linda Mason, ONU senior financial aid specialist and council member, Chris Burns-DiBiasio Make a Difference Award
  • Buckeye East, owned by Amber and Nick Simon, Business of the Year

The evening was emceed by Ada High School student Jillian Allison, who introduced remarks by Mayor Dave Retterer, ONU Vice President for Financial Affairs Jason Broge, Ada Schools Superintendent Julie Simmons and Ohio Senate President Rob McColley who represents District 1.

Elementary students score 2,228 items for Souper Bowl

Students at Ada and Hardin Northern Elementary schools participated in their own Souper Bowl this past week. In partnership with the United Way of Hardin County,  Ada and Hardin Northern elementary students brought in canned goods for four of the county’s outreach programs.  Beatitudes (Ada), Helping Hands, The Neighborhood Opportunity Center and the New Hope Ministries Homeless Shelter (Kenton). 

The Super Bowl was a super success with the students bringing in 2,228 items.

Currently 30 Ada students are enrolled at the career center, which serves all or part of six counties. A total of 950 high students are currently enrolled in high school programs.
