Students at Ada and Hardin Northern Elementary schools participated in their own Souper Bowl this past week. In partnership with the United Way of Hardin County, Ada and Hardin Northern elementary students brought in canned goods for four of the county’s outreach programs. Beatitudes (Ada), Helping Hands, The Neighborhood Opportunity Center and the New Hope Ministries Homeless Shelter (Kenton).
The Super Bowl was a super success with the students bringing in 2,228 items.
The Ada class with the most donations was Mrs. Wiseman’s kindergarten class with 275 cans; in second place was Mrs. Burnett’s class with 124.
Hardin Northern’s winning class was Mrs. Monday’s bringing in over 800 cans, with student Zeppelin Amwed bringing in 775 cans! The first-place class at both elementary schools will receive a pizza party.
“This is the 2nd year we have had the Souper Bowl, I am glad we are able to support people in our county, I like taking the items to Beatitudes. Everybody likes soup!” said Kyleigh Nau, 4th grader at Ada Schools.
The United Way of Hardin County was amazed by success of the event and the generosity of both elementary schools. The donations will help our county as many struggle to make ends meet.
