He may not be Paul Bunyon from American folklore, but his name is Paul. On a cold morning when the temperature was only 11 degrees, Paul Osborne and his son Jonathan glean wood from Claire Vaubel's home on West Lima Avenue. The work of the chopping and hauling will heat the Osborne home southeast of Ada for a time. Paul says the adage holds true: He who chops his own wood is warm twice...once from the labor, no matter the outside temperature, and once from the heat the wood provides.
As a biology/pre-med major at Ohio Northern University, Michael Chad Bridges didn’t think he’d be studying food waste. But that’s exactly where the 21-year-old’s senior project has led him. His research has so convinced Bridges of the economic and environmental value of composting, he’s spoken with ONU officials and the village council of Ada about investing in a system to compost food scraps.

The Ada Public Library third annual Valentines Chocolate Bake-Off at the Ada Public Library was a grand success with 20 entries and more than 50 tasters enjoying scrumptious desserts.
Young bakers showed their cooking ability. Two fifth graders from the Ada Schools took first and second place: Paige Jochims, first, with chocolate peanut butter dessert, and Sandra Litton, second, with chocolate strawberry pie. Molly Sheets took third place with her frozen mocha cheesecake. Nobody was counting calories.

An update:
• The men's basketball game was delayed an hour due to the Muskingum bus arriving late due to road conditions. ONU won before a good sized crowd who braved the elements.
• Viva Maria diners filled the restaurant on Valentine's Day in spite of the snow and cold.
• Life goes on in spite of what Old Man Winter is throwing at us.
Ada is well-represented at the Encore Theatre's performance of "The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood." The four incude William Allen as Robin Hood, Jon Allen as Prince John, Nathan Allen as the Sheriff of Nottingham, and Wes Allen as Allan Adale.
The Allens are the sons of Deb and Patrick Allen, of Ada.
The final performance is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Encore, 991 North Shore Drive, Lima.
Tim Schumacher of Bluffton took this photo as he and and his wife, JP, current sit on Interstate 75 (2:05 p.m.) on the southbound lane, two miles south of Findlay. Apparently there is a four-car accident near the rest area on I-75. More photos coming.
