Luke Sheets has ceramic piece accepted in New York exhibit

Luke Sheets, associate professor in art and ceramics professor at Ohio Northern, has a piece accepted to the art exhibit “Playing with Fire: Altered Atmospheres.”
The show is organized by the Saratoga Clay Arts Center in New York and is a national juried exhibition of 68 functional and decorative works by 59 clay artists.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, March 13 and runs through April 24.
Sheets has working in clay for over 20 years. After completing his BFA in ceramics, he worked in his own studio creating and firing wood-fired pottery.
The Ohio Northern University School of Visual and Performing Arts will present a dance for camera film titled “SHIFT” from Friday to Sunday, March 19 through March 21, via livestream on freedcenter.com.
The film will be broadcast at 7:30 p.m. on March 19 and March 20, with a 2 p.m. matinee broadcast on March 21.
Focusing on the shift of weight, time and space, faculty and student choreographers will present a dance concert based on personal narratives, experiences and emotions using the moving body through the lens of contemporary, pointe, modern, jazz and tap genres.

The Ohio Northern University School of Visual and Performing Arts will present a staged production of “The House of Bernarda Alba” by Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca from Friday, Feb. 26, through Sunday, Feb. 28, via livestream on freedcenter.com.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27, with 2 p.m. matinee performances on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28.
Drama synopsis
After the death of the family patriarch, well-to-do widow Bernarda Alba is determined to uphold the social propriety of the house and exacts an unyielding control over the lives of her five adult daughters.
Gov. DeWine names Amy Lewis as judge of common pleas

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced the appointment of Amy H. Lewis to the Greene County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division.
Lewis received her law degree from Ohio Northern University, and undergraduate degree from University of Kentucky.
Lewis, of Xenia, will assume office on March 1, 2021, and will be replacing Judge Adolfo Tornichio, who was appointed to the Greene County Court of Common Pleas, General Division. Lewis must run for election in November 2022 to complete the unexpired term ending December 31, 2024.
Became Northern's 11th president in 2011 • Retirement effective June 30, 2022

Daniel A. DiBiasio, Ohio Northern University president, annoucement that he will retire June 30, 2022. The announcement was made this weekend.
DiBiasio, 71, was hired in August, 2011, as Ohio Northern’s 11th president. His announcement to the campus community was in a letter, which stated that his stewardship here “has been – and for the next year and a half will continue to be – a great privilege and tremendous honor.”
For College of Engineering funding Lima Senior High School STEM Learning

Ohio Northern University has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the PPG Foundation on behalf of its coatings services facility located in Lima.
The funds will support the ONU College of Engineering’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities with students from Lima Senior High School.
With the grant funding, ONU’s engineering and computer science professors and students will provide interactive educational STEM experiences to students in the Engineering and Technology Program at Lima Senior.
The Engineering Technology Program is one of Lima Senior’s 11 Career and Technical Education offerings.
