Ohio Northern University’s Gospel Ensemble to celebrate 25 years of music

Ohio Northern University’s Gospel Ensemble will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a concert in the ONU English Chapel on Sunday, April 29, at 4 p.m.

Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, vice president for student affairs, dean of students, and director of the ensemble since its inception, says the ensemble began in 1987 with African-American students who wanted to share their heritage through gospel music. The group’s first performance was in January 1988, at the University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day worship service. The first full concert was presented in the spring and continues to be a tradition for this all-volunteer group.

ONU to host lecture by renowned Iranian-American Scholar

Ohio Northern University will host internationally renowned Iranian-American scholar Trita Parsi in the ballroom of McIntosh Student Center on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m.

ONU vs. Notre Dame in football? Well, yes, in a manner of speaking

 

Students from Ohio Northern University’s T.J. Smull College of Engineering have created a team of robotic football players to compete in the fourth annual University of Notre Dame robotic football competition on Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m. in Notre Dame’s Stepan Center. The event is free and open to the public.

"Thoroughly Modern Millie comes to Ada April 19-22

The Ohio Northern University Department of Communication and Theatre Arts presents "Thoroughly Modern Millie," at The Freed Center for the Performing Arts, Thursday, April 19 through Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m.

Phi Beta Delta presents speaker on international law and ethics

Ohio Northern University’s Phi Beta Delta honorary society for international scholars presents the Charles Fax, vice president for Israel Action at the Jewish National Fund, in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m.

The title of Fax’s lecture is “Positively Israel: How Israel Makes the World a Better Place.” The presentation will include a short video and a question-and-answer session.

Ohio Northern University’s Department of English to present poet Rebecca Lindenberg

Ohio Northern University’s Department of English will present Rebecca Lindenberg in the Elzay Gallery of Art on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. Lindenberg will be reading from her first book of poetry, “Love, An Index.”

Lindenberg wrote “Love, An Index” in memory of her former partner, the poet Craig Arnold, who tragically fell to his death in Japan while researching his poetic obsession, volcanoes. Lindenberg’s book is her elegy for Arnold.
