He is being treated for burns and smoke inhalation. His wife, Helen "Peg" Garbrecht, was uninjured.

According to the newsletter, Maxine is always a happy, warm, and loving girl. Her birthday is June 13 and she attended Dunkirk schools as a youngster.
A favorite food of Maxine’s is a tender roast with gravy that just falls apart. In the summer time, you can find Maxine sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather even though fall is her favorite season. We just celebrated her favorite holiday of Christmas as well.
Maxine was married three times with her last one being for 40+ years to Cletus. Maxine has seven children, two boys and five girls. Maxine recalled her favorite vacation as the one she took with her family to Disney World.
