ONU wrestlers in Pennsylvania tri-match

No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern posted a 22-20 victory over Springfield (Mass.) and a 26-12 victory over Oswego State (N.Y.) and finished 2-1 in pool play of the Lycoming (Pa.) Invitational on Friday at Lamade Gymnasium.

Welcome to the Ada Icon’s “Ada Teacher Feature.” Here we share thoughts and insights from local teachers who lift up and inspire our students. Let us lift up and inspire these educators as well. Today we meet Tabitha McPeeks.

“I like to see my students having fun in the classroom,” shares Tabitha McPeeks, Ada Elementary music and 5th grade band teacher. Read on to learn more about a memorable exclamation heard in her classroom…“Hey! That actually sounded like a song!”

Elzay Gallery exhibit features artists who live in both U.S. and Italy

Photos, installation, painting, drawing, video, sound works

Artists who live both in the U.S. and Italy will exhibit their work at the Elzay Gallery of Art beginning Tuesday, Jan. 17, continuing through Feb. 19.  The exhibit features photography, installation, painting, drawing, video, and sound works.

One of the artists is Emily Jay, lecturer in art who makes her home in Ada and Italy. She is a 2010 ONU graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in studio arts. She earned the MFA in painting from BGSU.

Other artists are Radha Rose Tague, Christina Gednalske, and Molly DiGrazia.
The exhibit, titled "Lacuna," concerns living in a culture not your own.

It takes concentration

This looks like it takes concentration...and it does. The Robotics Club met at the Ada Public Library on Thursday to assemble a robot and program "the beast." It was the first of seven meetings of the club advised by Max Gauthier, AmeriCorps member. Pictured are (from left) Dexter Woods, Max, Kamron Wilkerson (seated) and Jacob Butterfield. Allen Milton Abrams, Sr., 1950 - 2017

Allen Milton Abrams Sr., was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at his residence in Ada. He was 66 years old.

Born on Aug. 18, 1950 in Marion, Ohio, to Ronald E. and Rosella (Apthorp) Abrams, Allen is survived by his wife, Sukhee and two children, Rosie (Mark) Salisbury, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Allen Milton (Katie) Abrams Jr. of Ada.

A doting grandfather, or "Poppa," as he was known, Allen is also survived by his two granddaughters, Sophia and Evelyn Abrams; a brother, Ronald E. (Billie Brandon) Abrams of Mansfield, Ohio; and three sisters: Marlene (Stephen) Renick, Jody Strobel and Frances Pikciunas, all of Marion, Ohio.
