Bud Risner was a member of the USV Hall of Fame

Pearl Richard “Bud” Risner, age 82 at 11:14 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Kindred Hospital, Lima.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1932 in McGuffey, Ohio to Okey and Cloie (Jordan) Risner and they preceded him in death. He first married Betty Faye Stone and she preceded him in death. He later married Alta (Oliver) Dunson and they were married for 40 years. She preceded him in death in March of 2011.

He retired from Rockwell of Kenton, where he worked for 40 years. He spent two years in the U.S. Army. Bud was inducted into the Upper Scioto Valley Hall of Fame in of January 2014.

Marathon presents check to university’s Mu Delta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi

Marathon Petroleum donated $1,000 to Ohio Northern University’s Mu Delta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi on Thursday, Nov. 6. Ryan Abraham, president of the Beta Alpha Psi ONU chapter, and Andria Beehler-Evans, vice president, accepted the generous donation.

Abraham, who expressed his gratitude on behalf of the chapter, said “These funds will truly benefit our chapter, allowing us to make various purchases that we otherwise would not be able to make. Our chapter will use the donated funds to offer our members opportunities to network with financial and business leaders as well as provide our chapter with resources to effectively operate on a daily basis.”

Visitation Thursday, funeral Friday for Carla Dysert

Carla M. Dysert of Ada, 56, died at 8:42  a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in an auto accident.

She was born on June 25, 1958, to Carl and Donna (Briggs) Nazor in Shelby, Ohio. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Mansfield, Ohio. She attended high school at Shelby High School. She went on to attend Eastern Baptist College in Philadelphia, Pa.

On Aug. 26, 1977, she married Greg Dysert who survives in Ada.

Also surviving are two daughters and one son: Heather Dysert (West Paar) Long Island, N.Y., Brooke Carter (Jason) Hilliard, Ohio, and Zac Dysert Denver, Colo.

Alice Wood had retired from Ohio Northern University

Alice J. Irwin Wood, 92, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at 10:34 a.m. at her residence in Centerville, Ohio.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1922 in Ada to Paul and Jessie (Norris) Klingler and they preceded her in death. Alice married James Irwin on May 23, 1943, and he died on Nov. 25, 1952. She later married on June 15, 1991 Robert Wood and he died on Dec. 30, 1991.
Alice retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada where she worked as a secretary. She formerly worked for Hindall & Sons.

Charlene Hughes was owner of Four Seasons

Charlene L. Hughes, 56, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at 5 p.m. at her residence in Ada.

She was born on March 22, 1958 in Lima, Ohio to Samuel G. and Emma J. (Baldridge) Dearth, they preceded her in death. She married Richard “Rick” Hughes on July 9, 1977. and he survives in Ada.

She worked in retail most of her life. She was currently owner and operator of Four Seasons Carry-Out and Drive-Thru of Ada. 

Also surviving are two sons: Matthew (Fiancé, Adriana Garcia) Hughes and Aaron Hughes both of Ada; a grandson, Maverick Hughes; a brother, Dean (Julie) Dearth of St. Marys; a sister: Cheryl Dye of Ada; several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Sue Huff 1944-2014

Dorothy Sue Huff, 70, died at 10:44 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1944, in Carver, Kentucky, to Leander and Laura (Watkins) Rowe and they are both deceased.

She was first married to William Douglas Burris and he survives in Harrod, Ohio. She married William H. Huff on Nov. 21, 1992 and he died May 19, 2013.

Mrs. Huff was a homemaker. She was formerly involved in the Alger Memorial Day Committee and was a social member of the Ada VFW Post #9381.
