I have had the privilege of serving as chair of the Ada School Levy
Committee, working with dedicated volunteers who are passionate about
Continuing the Excellence of Ada Schools.  The committee wishes to thank the
residents of the community for your encouragement and support. The RENEWAL of the 3/4 percent income tax levy is important.  NO TAX INCREASE! NO NEW TAXES!

Thank you for all you do to promote the Hardin County Red Cross Learn To Swim program.

Our classes were full this year.  We even had 2 Level 1 (Beginner) Classes because of the requests/registrations and for the first time in quite a while we had a very advanced class of Level 5.

Without your help to get the word out to the public each year this program would not reach so many students.

My sincere appreciation and thanks!!!

It takes a village!

The Ada Public Library Summer Reading Programs is only as successful as the efforts of all involved; we recognize and appreciate the Ada Schools and Chanda Smith, School Librarian in their willingness to let us come in and talk about Summer Reading with the kids, and the office staff and teachers for sending our materials home. We are truly grateful for the dedication of the individuals and families who signed-up for and participated in Summer Reading, their commitment to reading and infectious excitement for the programs AND the prizes. And I personally appreciate and recognize all the efforts of the library VOLUNTEENS and staff, Darlene, Debbi, Karen, Karin, Preema, and Rhett.

To the Editor,

ONU's chapter of the Student Society of Health System Pharmacists is participating in National Poison Prevention Week, March 19-25. The week nationally highlights the dangers of poisonings and how to prevent them. 

We invite others to join the movement by participating and advocating for the importance of poison prevention. 

 According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), poisoning is the leading cause of injury death in the United States. In 2014, poison centers managed 2.9 million cases, about 2.2 million of which were about people coming into contact with dangerous or potentially dangerous substances.

By now, I'm sure you have heard from various sources that the White House plans to balance the federal budget by eliminating several agencies, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

As I write, Congress is finalizing a budget for 2017, which includes a significant increase for NEH. However, we do anticipate that the President's budget proposal for 2018 will include proposals to defund these three agencies, among others.

Letter: Provide sanctuary to refugees

Donald Trump's recent executive order bars entry to refugees for 120 days,
and to those from Syria indefinitely. It blocks visitors for 90 days from
seven countries.

Refugees are among the most vulnerable people on the planet. Many have
suffered unimaginably. In the United States is a nation of refugees and
immigrants.

I hope that our representatives in Congress and in Ohio will pressure
President Trump to reverse this order. Meanwhile, I hope within Ada, we all
work to show international students, immigrants and refugees that they are
welcome and valued in our community.
