Funeral service Friday in the ONU chapel for Austin Weber

Austin James Weber, 19 of Ada, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 5:35 p.m. at Akron General Hospital as a result of a longboarding accident.

He was born on June 20, 1994, in Lima, Ohio to Carl J. and Mary Lou (Illig) Weber who survive in Ada.

Austin was a sophomore at the University of Akron. He was a 2012 graduate of Ada High School and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada. He was an organ donor.

Also surviving are: two sisters, Kelsey Weber of Newport, Calif., and Holly Weber of Centerville, and a brother, Alex Weber of Ada; maternal grandmother, Lucille Illig of Landeck; paternal grandfather, Robert Weber of Delphos.

Music Boosters selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts - order yours now

Ada Music Boosters are selling boxes of a dozen Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts now through Oct. 1, according to Cliff Maier, president of the boosters.

Each box of a dozen doughnuts is $6 and will be delivered fresh during the Ada Homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 4 (admission to the game is not required for pickup). 

Window replacement

A window replacement at Ada's Disciples of Christ Church turns into an artistic photo when the sun creates shadows on the ladders. The storm windows in the stained-glass windows were replaced last week.

Nominations accepted for Ada's Distinguished Citizen of the Year

The nomination period for Ada's Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award for 2013 is now open.

A nomination form is a printer-friendly attachment at the bottom of this story. Copies are also available in  in the Village Office. Nominations and completed forms are due by Oct. 18, according to Angela Polacheck of the Village of Ada.

The award will be presented at the 48th annual Town & Gown Banquet Monday, Nov. 4. The evening's festivities will begin with a social hour from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15, and tickets will be available soon.

Adelyn Althaus wins Icon football contest week 4

The winner of Week 4 of The Icon Football Contest is Adelyn Althaus.  Adelyn and David Glick both correctly picked 14 games this week.  They both predicted the same tie-breakers as well.  Adelyn was declared the winner because her picks were entered first.  Congratulations Adelyn!
