ONU Bookstore to host Ada’s “cash mob” on Feb. 18

The secret’s out. The Buy Ada First Committee announced the location of the cash mob event this week.

The cash mob is taking place at Ohio Northern University Bookstore, 402 W. College Ave., McIntosh Center, Ada, from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18.

“Josh Szippl, Manager, welcomed our invitation to host this event,” said Heather Cox, member of the committee. “We hope to continue more cash mobs in Ada in the future.”

Feb. 15 funeral service in Arizona for former Ada physician

Well-known Ada and Hardin County, Ohio, physician Dr. Robert Bradford Love died in Green Valley, Ariz., Jan. 18, 2014. He was born in Westerville, Ohio, on Oct. 13, 1920, to the Rev. James R. and Mildred (Mount) Love. He graduated from Lima Central High School, obtained his undergraduate degree from Otterbein College, and went on to Case Western Reserve Medical School, graduating in 1947 with his Doctor of Medicine degree.

Lincoln Highway Assn. meets Feb. 18 in Van Wert

The Black Swamp Bistro Van Wert, will host this month’s Lincoln Highway Association Western Ohio Chapter meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

After attendees order dinner individually from the menu, Cincinnati author Denny Gibson will present a program at 7 p.m., discussing his newly published book, “By Mopar to the Golden Gate, A 50 Year Old Car On a 100 Year Old Road.” 

Gibson, an avid traveler, will discuss his 2013 Lincoln Highway journey from New York to California driving a 1963 Plymouth Valiant convertible. The public is invited.

"Drone Warfare: Legality, Morality, Utility" forum Feb. 13 at ONU

Ohio Northern University’s Gamma Upsilon chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the ONU Department of History, Politics and Justice and CASE (Committee on the Arts and Special Events) will present a forum on “Drone Welfare: Legality, Morality, Utility” in the Dicke Forum on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.

Bluffton Hospital offers colon cancer screening

Bluffton Hospital is offering special colon cancer screening days for the convenient scheduling of colonoscopies. Upcoming screening days will be held Monday, February 24 and Saturday, March 15. Appointments are limited. To schedule an appointment, call Bluffton Hospital at 419-369-2365.

Colon cancer screening is recommended every 10 years for both men and women between the ages of 50 and 75. If family history or other risk factors exist, earlier screening may be recommended. Call Bluffton Hospital or ask your doctor for more information.
