Marilyn Sue Collins was retired as elementary teacher's aide at Hardin Northern

Marilyn Sue Collins, 82, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:25 a.m. at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Arlington, Ohio.

She was born on December 1, 1931 in Lima, Ohio to Ernest and Madge (Kanawal) Schaaf, who preceded her in death. On June 3, 1956, she married Edward L. Collins and he survives in Forest, Ohio.

Marilyn was a homemaker and retired in 1984 from Hardin Northern Schools where she worked as an elementary school teacher's aide. She was a 1949 graduate of Lima Senior High School. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet. Marilyn was an artist, played the piano and loved reading.

Erma Lee Collins was retired from Lima Memorial Hospital as an RN

Erma Lee Collins, 80, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.

She was born June 1, 1933 in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky to William Lee and Lula Mae (Moore) Stone who preceded her in death. On June 9, 1950, she married Elmer Collins and he survives in Lima.

Erma was a registered nurse at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima. After retiring in 1988, she had a traveling music ministry performing services throughout several states. She was a member of the Lima First Assembly of God Church and a member of the women's club of the church.

Paul Edward Adkins was a lifelong country and western singer

Paul Edward Adkins, 76, died on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 11:25 p.m. at his residence in Roundhead, Ohio.

He was born October 9, 1937 in New Carlisle, Ohio, to Wiley and Sarah (Hurt) Adkins, who preceded him in death. On May 24, 1961, he married B. Christine Lowery. They both are long-time residents of Hardin County. Christine continues to reside in Roundhead.

Adkins was a veteran of the United States Air Force, worked for several years in the Kenton Fire Department and then went to Durez Occidental Chemical Corporation. He later retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima. Adkins was a lifetime country and western musician.

BVHS offers scholarships to area students, BVHS associates

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) is offering educational scholarships to individuals pursuing health care careers. High school seniors entering college, current college students and BVHS associates are eligible to apply.

A complete list of scholarships, along with applications, deadlines, qualifications and contact information can be viewed at www.bvhealthsystem.org by clicking on the “Scholarships” link under the “Careers” menu.

Those who receive a BVHS scholarship may be required to make a commitment to the organization.

Could be superhero (and supervillian) day at AHS on Friday

Lots of superheros (and maybe supervillians) will attend Ada schools on Friday. This year's yearbook theme is the reason. For more details, read on, from announcements on the Ada High School website.

YEARBOOK: The theme for this year’s yearbook is comic book superheroes. On Friday, Feb. 28, there will be a superhero/supervillian costume contest to promote year book sales. The winner will get their picture in the yearbook along with a free Padron’s pizza lunch for you and five friends.

Ada resident Larry Kindle was an ONU graduate

Larry D. Kindle, 70, died on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at 5 p.m.at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1944, in Bluffton, Ohio. Parents were Paul and Frieda (Vandemark) Kindle, they preceded him in death. On Nov. 27, 1965 he married Marilyn M. Lowe and she survives in Ada.

Mr. Kindle had served six years in the National Guard. He was a graduate of the Toledo Meatcutting School, was a realtor and a graduate of Ohio Northern University.
