Village Voice: Main-Lima intersection closed on Thursday

The Village Voice: The reconstruction of East Lima Avenue continues to progress well. The crews have reached a point in construction where it is necessary to close South Main Street at the Lima Avenue intersection to allow the crews to safely work on paving.

This closure is planned to begin Thursday, Oct. 2. Detours will be posted for the area.

Please keep in mind your safety and the safety of the crews working. Do not move barricades or attempt to drive or walk through areas that have been marked as “closed.”

Ohio Northern University named a 2014-15 Military Friendly School

Ohio Northern University has been named a 2014-15 Military Friendly School by Victory Media. This distinction recognizes Ohio Northern for ranking in the top 15 percent among all universities and trades schools nationwide in welcoming military and veteran students.
 
Schools and universities on the Military Friendly Schools list encourage policies, efforts and results used to recruit and retain military and veteran students. Ohio Northern shows an interest in recruiting military students and attempts to continue and improve the efforts of military friendliness each year.
 

Donald Puckett 1951-2014

Donald R. Puckett, age 63, died at 7:12 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

He was born March 16, 1951 in Lima, Ohio to Carl and Melba (Ousley) Puckett and they survive in Ada. He married Ethel R. Bowermaster on October 29, 1971 and she survives in Ada.

Donald retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant serving from May 9, 1974 to June 30, 1994.

Also surviving are three daughters: Crystal Grivna of Tampa, Fla., Donna Berry of Grand Forks, N.D. and Melissa Puckett of Ada; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters: Barbara (Ron) Murray of St. Marys and Brenda (Bob) Zimmerman of Ada.
