2-hour early release at Ada schools on Tuesdy

There is a scheduled 2-hour early release for students of Ada Schools on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Roger Nichols was a 1968 graduate of USV

Roger L. Nichols, 64, died on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at 12:29 p.m. at his residence in Alger.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1950 in McGuffey, Ohio, to Robert L. and Marie (Hicks) Nichols who preceded him in death. Roger was previously married to Peggy Shepherd and she survives in Kenton.

He was a 1968 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School. Roger retired in 2006 from Ford Engine Plant of Lima after working for 35 years. He was an associate member of the New Birth Living World Ministries, Inc. of Alger.

Owlsburg Tavern, or Van's, which ever you prefer, appears to be one of the stories of the year on the Icon. It received over 6,000 Facebook recognitions in a recent story, reaching viewers all the way to eastern Europe.

Betty Lewis 1942-2015

Betty L. Lewis, 73, of Ada died Sept. 27, 2015, at 5:44 p.m. at Cleveland Clinic. Betty was born Sept. 2, 1942 in Bluffton to William "Kaiser" and Mary Holmes Gaiffe. On July 27, 1963 she married James "Jim" Lewis and he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2014.

Betty was a homemaker. Betty was a graduate of Bluffton High School.

Survivors include a son, Jamie (Rachelle) Lewis of Harrod, two daughters, Amie (Darin) Rowe of Harrod, Tracie (John) Amburgey of Ada, seven grandchildren, Danielle Lewis, Kayla Rowe, Courtney Lewis, Kaycee Rowe, Alexis Amburgey, Dustin Rowe and Austin Amburgey, a sister, Patricia Wyss of Ada and an aunt, Nora Mericle of Bluffton.

Ohio Northern royalty

Junior Ian Brown and fifth-year pharmacy student Vanja Raduka were named Ohio Northern University Homecoming king and queen. Raduka represented orientation leaders. Brown represented Newman Club. Alumni returned to Ohio Northern University during Homecoming 2015. (From ONU Facebook)
