"The Shoe" fits the Ada HS marching band

Ada High School's marching band continued its competition schedule on Oct. 3 competing at the Buckeye Invitational Marching Band Competition.

The competition took place in “The Horseshoe” at Ohio State University. Despite the cold wind and steady rain Ada did a fine job competing.

The color guard earned 2nd place in Class C while the band received 4th place. Overall the band earned an excellent rating at this OMEA competition.

Trick or treat on the way

This is the month of Halloween with goblins and ghosts are already appearing in Ada yards. Here, Zander Kahler sits among ghosts at his folk's house, Glen and Tammie Brayshaw, at 500 Grand. The spooks were made of rebar, plastic sheeting, and shipping tape. Look for angels to appear there nearer Christmas. (Monty Siekerman photo)

First there's pajama day, then crazy hair and hat day. That's followed by twins day, formal dress day (can you believe that!). It all ends with spirit wear day.

The homecoming kickoff was a Sunday evening community pep rally at War Memorial Stadium. The Icon attended and shares these photos, taken by Monty Siekerman, with viewers:

• Pineapple upside down cakes were offered to pep rally goers. Eda Tanriverde, an exchange student from Turkey, displays desserts for those who have a sweet tooth.

• Ada High School flags perform.
