LIMA - Spencerville edged Lincolnview and Paulding in a four-team Northwest Conference golf match including Ada at Tamarac Golf Course in Lima Wednesday.

 

The undefeated Bearcats won with 168 strokes, three shots ahead of the Lancers (171) and 10 up on Paulding (178). Ada shot 234.

 

Brevin Sizemore led the Bulldogs with a nine-hole score of 56. Rob Allison shot 57 and Alex Morgan carded a 59 while Austin Amburgey added a 62.

 

Ada's Jake Colwell shot 63 and Ethan Hull posted a 58.

 

After earning the program's third consecutive OAC Championship in 2017, the Ohio Northern men's cross country team has been chosen by the league's 10 head coaches to finish second this season.

 

After winning the OAC championship last year, Ohio Northern would continue their postseason success with a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III Regionals. From there, they received a team bid to the 2017 NCAA Championships where they wound up 19th.

And, there's a free community pancake breakfast

Vancrest will observe Senior Citizens Day on Tuesday, Aug. 21 with a free community pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. All are welcome. There will be time to visit with others and have a guided tour of the facility. There will be an information booth for those who have questions.

3,500 annuals, 6,000 spring bulbs, and 500 mums planted each year

Ohio Northern has received a beautification award from the Keep Hardin County Beautiful Commission.

Gigantic containers of flowers can be found in several locations and fountains at ONU are surrounded by colorful plants.

Grounds department personnel plant 3,500 annuals, 6,000 spring bulbs, and 500 mums annually.

The Jerry Lewis franchise of McDonald’s plans a renovation and modernization of locations in Ada, Van Wert, Shawnee and West Street in Lima in 2019. Modernizations at the restaurants include new furniture, digital self-order kiosks, digital menu boards, and an expansion of McCafe’s counters and display cases. 

Similar work was accomplished this year at McDonald’s in Bluffton and in Lima at Elida Road and Market Street locations.

The 2018-19 Ada school year is officially underway

The school bell rang for the first time on Monday morning, signaling the start of the 2018-19 academic year. Ada Police and Sheriff’s Department vehicles were apparent in the front of the school when students, teachers, and staff arrived.

In the next photos, students flood into Ada Schools on Monday morning, some running to get inside to learn (or to see their friends).
