Riblet, Lane earn 2nd-place finishes

MIDDLE POINT – The Ada High School wrestling team finished a solid sixth at the annual 15-team Lincolnview Lancer Invitational on December 14.

Columbus Grove won the team title with 207.5 points. Defiance Tinora came in second at 193.5, followed by Spencerville (142). Ada scored 125.5 points to edge Hicksville by a half-point for sixth place.

Ada junior Silas Riblet finished second in the 120 lbs. bracket. He was 4-0 in Pool A. He fashioned a 4-1 overall mark with two pins after he lost in the 120 finals 17-0 to Corbin Kimmel of Wayne Trace.

Bulldog Easton Lane also came in second in the heavyweight division. He was 2-0 in pool A before winning his semifinal match by pin. He lost by a 14-3 majority decision in the finals to Montpelier’s Logan Pontious.

During Ada's annual Merry on Main celebrations on December 14, the cast of characters greeting families in front of Beatitudes blossomed into a big How the Grinch Stole Christmas casting call.

The 2nd annual Ada Distinguished Awards will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 6:00 p.m.

The Ada Town & Gown Committee is accepting applications for the 2024 Distinguished Citizen of the Year award.

Bobby Lee Bingham, age 71, of Findlay, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Blanchard Valley Health System.   

He was born on November 14, 1953 in Wartburg, Tennessee to the late Benjamin and Barbara (Freytag) Bingham. Bobby married Kimberly Freytag on August 8, 1976 and she survives in Findlay.         

Also surviving is his daughter, Tracy (Alonzo) Wilson of Fostoria; seven grandchildren: Kayla, Abigail, Andrew, Morgan, Brooklyn, Koultan and Trenton; three great grandchildren: Kimberly, Jason and Maddix; and two sisters: Betty (Wayne Johnson) Goad and Mary Lewis. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Bingham; and grandson, Trevor. 

The Village of Ada Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16 in council chambers at 115 W. Buckeye Ave.
